Are you kiddin'? Baptists themselves don't agree on what believing in every jot and tittle means, let alone non-baptists.

"I was told by a Lutheran pastor once that they believed it is more symbolic than anything and that it was not literal."
    "
Official Lutheran doctrine (as in the p.o.v. of Luther himself) is Consubstantian: the real (as in non-symbolic) presence of Jezus in the bread and wine.

"I don't think Roman Catholicism should be included either."
    "
There goes (strictly numerically speaking) half of all of Christianity in the world.

MT 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

MT 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Messianic Jews Believe in Scripture Alone and Salvation by Faith in Jesus.and the believe in the Trinity. Now, there are some Jewish Converts in the Roman Catholic Church.
There are many Messianic Jews with varying beliefs--just like different Baptists, Pentecostals, etc.

Can you repeat that a little louder, and closer to my pocket?
    HA!
Kidding, but do be prepared for the people on this board who are gonna throw a royal hissy fit. You're not a good Christian unless you get that solemn look to ya according to some. You know, the slight frown, black wingtips, and if you can't refrain from saying amen you gotta clear your throat real fast like afterwards! ;)

OK For the record part ...

NIX on JW's Mormons and unitarians

JW's do not believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord, Creator God, & Savior. They believe that He is just an angel ... I belive that they do not have their own TRANSLATION ... after it was shown that their translators were liguistically challenged ... they took out their names ...
And they RUN when you pull out the GNT that they say they study ...
Mormons ... well ... if you believe that Jesus is Satan's LITTLE brother ...
    Unitarian ... not worth a statement ...

Why is it that we doubt Catholic salvation ... yet, we love to quote their theologians ... Augustin, Thomas of Assisi
Luther, Zwingli, Calvin ... were Catholic trained Theologians ... Sometimes, I wish that I had their training ... ;o)

    In Christ

I think you have a few of these wrong here. I have some very good friends that are Lutheran and I don't think they believe all of these...
The first I think they do believe.
Allowing alchohol to its members yes they do but what is the point there, some baptists do too for that matter (I for one don't believe it is wrong though I don't drink myself)
    They ARE young earth creationists.
They don't belive in onne God for all of these religions.
They certainly celebrate Christmas but then so do most Baptist so I don't see they point there,

Infant baptism, yes they do...big point of disagreement..

Baptismal Regeneration....sort of but be careful, it is a lot different than what the C of C believes, they aren't right but they arn't THAT far offf

BTW, this all is what the "confessional" Lutherans would believe not really the ELCA etc.

I only voted against Mormons and those who believe that Muslims worship the same God as Christians. I thought it might be good to challenge some JWs and others who deny the deity of Christ.

Well why don't we just get rid of the "Other Christian Discussion" board altogether? Why not just make this board "By Baptists and For Baptists only" and then you can ban all the other "non"-Christians you want! At least that would show consistant integrity on your part. Until that happens, this Roman Catholic is going to keep dropping in from time to time unless I am banned......but you won't need to go that far. Just a simple PM to me that I am unwelcome will suffice. - MERRY CHRISTMAS! - Meercat

There are other evangelical Christians "denominations," and the adjectives to be stressed here are both "evangelical," and hristian."
The RCC is not a Christian Church, has never been a Christian Church, and never was a Christian Church. And it certainly isn't evangelical.
You can put it one of two categories: that of a cult, or that of another world religion (just like Hinduism, or Islam). Given its size and influence, I prefer the latter. It is a religion, apart from Christianity that has affected the world. True Christianity has always existed alongside of it always protesting against its heresies, always known by different names, whether they be the Baptists or the Montaninsts, or the various groups of the Reformation Movement. The Reformation took place in protest to the Catholic Church, thus the word Protestants.

The Catholic Church has a religion of works. It does not believe the Biblical doctrine of salvation by grace through faith.
The Catholc Church really doesn't believe that Christ died for their sins; otherwise why would they think that they have to pay part of that penalty suffering for them in a place called purgatory.
The Catholic Church does not believe that Christ can directly forgive their sins, otherwise why must they go through a priest to obtain forgiveness of sins.
The Catholic Church breaks some of the most basic of the Ten Commandments, all the while trying to teach the same to their children. "Thou shalt not make any graven image...Thou shalt not bow down to them." Two of the ten commandments are violated here.
The Catholic Church's Ten Commandments in older catechisms are different than the protestant's Ten Commandments. One of the commandment's is deftly and deceitfuly left out.
The Catholic Church is not based on the Bible, it based on fear, and a blind faith in the rulings of the magesterium. It is not a Christian Religion.

Forgive me if I don't accept you opinion of the Catholic Church. I know first hand that most of what you say is false, and it is precisely those misconceptions of Catholic teachings that spurred me towards the Church. So I guess I should thank-you, in a way. [IMG]

My goodness, I'm quite sick of those who turn from the truth and join the Catholic church trying to pin the blame for it on others.
You joined the Catholic church because you fell for their lies Neil. Nobody "helped you along" in that one but yourself.

How do you know first hand Neil? How much study have you really put into this?
I was a devout Catholic for twenty years, an altar boy for many of those years, a lector for some of those years. My parents thought that I would eventually go into the priesthood, which I gave thought to. Since that time I have kept on studying the Catholic Church doctrines: the Catechism, the Vatican II doctrines, examining more of what my parents were taught, and especially examining Catholic history. What do you really know. I am at the point of questioning what you do know.
My knowledge comes from first hand experience, plus many other sources, and from years of study. Where do your sources come from, and for how long have you been studying this?

    Redrawing the lines:

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Heb. 1:1-3.

The above scripture eliminates all religions of the world (including Moroni and Watchtower Bibles and Tracts) save one: Christianity--now the water really gets "murky".

Christianity is a "catch-all" word used to describe anyone who claims to follow Christ-- in any way, shape, form or fashion. This would indicate to most who are seeking truth that there surely must be those who could be deemed "pseudo", that is to say "false" in terms of whom they are, in fact following.

How does one decide? Go to the Book of Books. Oops--if we do that we eliminate a sizeable portion of those called Christian, because they do not regard the Word of God as the only rule of faith and practice. They regard "tradition" as being of equal, and in practice, superior authority to scripture.

If we throw out this group, West and East, what becomes of their daughters which sprang up in places like Canterbury, Wittenburg, Zurich, Paris, and others? Would not the daughters be without authority as well?

What happened to the assembly that Jesus is building--the one which will survive the gates of hell? She is still out there--Jesus said He would never leave Her nor forsake Her--She is His Bride.

What is Her name? There are many names--mostly of derision. "Christian" is not a term of endearment. The real question is: what does She practice? Does She have the marks of the First New Testament Assembly? Is She a fullfilment of Mt. 16:18; Eph. 3:21; and Jude 3?

Tough questions--but not if one is "one of them".

    Selah,

    Bro. James

First off, my name is NEAL, not i. [IMG] Second, I know first hand because I am joining the Catholic Church. [IMG]

Over a year and a half before I decided to join the Church. I went to the horse's mouth to see what the Church really taught. Believe me, I was as anti-Catholic as possible. When I saw what the really taught, it did not add up to the misconceptions being spread. And attitudes, such as yours, just help push me to study deeper. I am sorry if you think you "know" more, but I know enough that what you posted earlier is false.

I grew up Protestant, was at a conservative Baptist seminary until last spring, and this was the last thing I wanted to do. But here I am, and I must be honest and follow the Truth. Sorry you don't see it that way. [IMG] But then again, none of this will qualify me enough in your eyes. ;)
