    Agreed. [IMG]

I have one of these and enjoy it greatly. just wish it were in BIGGER print!  :(
</font>[/QUOTE]Mine is in giant print brother. The Bible is just to big to be carried to church. Don't knoe for sure but it's probably 12 point print.

I have an ESV and love it.To many traps in reformed theology for me though to spend my money on a reformed study Bible(in a soft cover edition)I will prbably get a less expensive hard cover and use it for comparative purposes.I like listening to R.C. but I know I have to listen carefully to what he says.

Bill- my feelings exactly. I used to call the NASB my favorite, but the ESV just reads so well IMO. I picked up a hardback copy of the Reformed study Bible and it's no bad at all. But it's kind of like eating watermenlon... you gotta spit out the seeds before you eat the fruit.

Coming from a moderate calvinist point-of-view, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it later this week. (My son's 6th birthday is early next month so I ordered him the ESV Children’s Bible, as well.)

My two young daughters have the ESV Children's Bibles and its really great. There are so many pictures and topics pages that pique their interest. I have been approached many times by them asking to explain a picture or topic page in the back. I use the ESV for verse memorization in my family as well.

I'm one of those who remain convinced that both mainstream C & mainstream A are flawed, God having been pleased to keep for Himself certain secrets of His soteriology. I'm not Calvinist but somewhere close to Spurgeon, MacArthur and others. I have high regard for John Wesley.

The point is: Knowing R.C., I would not want to be without this Bible in my library and believe you all would benefit from time to time by using it as a reference, as I plan to use it. The fact that it's in the ESV just makes me want to pick it up sooner.

About the cover: I was in LifeWay last night and saw a black, genuine leather edition and was not impressed with the leather cover. The first leather edition I saw, early last year, WAS impressive - just on the expensive side. The contents of the bible seem to be well-done, though I wish they had made it red-letter. As one who loves leather bibles I was disappointed with the bible I handled last night. I think I'm going for a hardcover but will do some more checking to see if perhaps there is more than one genuine leather edition (not bonded leather).

The differences between Mac and CHS on the one hand, and Sproul on the other are in the areas of eschatology, ecclesiology, and ordinances. In their understanding of sotierology they are virtually identical.

As I am learning more about RC I am realizing this selection was a good one!

Fortunately, mine will be in a cover almost as soon as I pull off the shrinkwrap so the quality of the leather (for me) is mostly irrelevant.

Yeah, thanks, I shouldn't have mentioned Mac, but it was too late to edit it out and a little off-topic. I've heard him say he is a 4 or 4.5 point Calvinist and that is what I was referring to.

I won't hijack the thread but I heard this, secondhand, just today: Regarding free-will and the preaching of 'whosoever will can come', Spurgeon was told by a friend: "If I believed like you do (about election), I wouldn't preach the way you do". To which Spurgeon replied: "Well, if the Lord had put a yellow streak down the backs of the elect, I'd go up and down the street lifting up shirttails, finding out who had the yellow streak, and I'd give to them the gospel. But God didn't do it that way - he told me to preach the gospel to every creature and whosoever will can come ...
