    Dear Abby,
Yes, read 1 Corinthians 11:1-18, Numbers 5, and Isaiah 47:2-3. The OT verses are just another way to help understand that God's women have always done this. There are some wonderful books on the subject to help you understand, but of course the Word and the Holy Spirit are the best teachers.

Here are a few links that I have found helpful:

1)The men of the past taught that it was a literal piece of cloth that went atop the natural covering, the long hair.

    2) A book that you can read online. It is lengthy, but worth reading.

    3) FREE TAPES! Order set number 90, "Headship Veiling." These folks are Anabaptist, but if you listen with your Bible open you will find them very Biblical.

4)This is very long, but this testimony is wonderful and explains everything very well. I met this lady at a homeschool convention. She is a very humble and gentle soul. I think you will really like that one, I would love to hear what you think about it.

Also if you have access to a Vines Expository Dictionary look up the word covering. You will find references for both words in these verses and they are actually two Greek words meaning different things. Many get confused because of verse 15. But, it cannot be only the hair because verse six would then make no sense.

    Dear Spirit Seeker,
My post about the "box of shame", is in the Baptist General Discussions forum. It is titled "Embarrassing Question". I don't know how to do the link to it or else I would. As shameful as that was for me to post for everyone to see, it was a growing experience in the Lord that both my husband and I had to go through. The advice I got there was invaluable!
Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more about it, or anything for that matter.
    Blessings,
    Kristine

    Headcoveredlady,
Praise God for blessing you and your husband in your testimony and witnessing to the the ladies who really needed to hear His word. I think it's amazing that by wearing your faith on the outside all the time, that you have so many opportunities to share the gospel. I have thought about that so many times. The deeper your faith gets on the inside, the more it shows on the outside, and you can't help but show everyone who comes in contact with you, whether you are covering or not. It shines right through! I know I am letting my light shine in this neighborhood of unsaved people, because when I first went dresses only, they all asked me if I was becoming Amish or Mormon. . I told them that I am a christian, and I feel I am being a good witness for Christ wearing dresses, looking like a lady, and having a meek and quiet spirit that the Lord values. Then I would start witnessing to them very gently, slipping God's word in coversations where they didn't expect it. Now they are coming to me asking me questions about things they read about in their bibles earlier. Wow! Even if I don't lead all of them to Christ, at least I have planted so many seeds!! I am so humbled by what God has done here, through little ol me [IMG] . Someone once told me to "bloom where I am planted", and the Lord definately planted me here for a reason.
    Blessings,
    Kristine

As I read the posts, I thought it very wonderful that hearts and minds are open to the Lord's leading. I have always believed that the covering is the hair.

But, if you look at Christian woman today there isn't much difference between them and the world as far as appearance, even in some dress only women. The only true seperation I have seen is that of those who wear a covering. It definetly is something to ponder.
