So you believe in astrology but do NOT read your horoscope?

Astrology is a form of witchcraft, it is sataniam. Astrology is for those who do not trust God, they need help making decisions, what to do today or not do, what colors are good luck for me this month. Diane has already shown you what God has to sya about it and if you don'r believe Him but would rather make excuseses to disobey Him, and play with th devil, then you certainly aren't going to listen to anyone ehelse.
From God's very own word He says: "they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them;" Is. 47:12(?)
And if your praticing witchcraft, then he is talking about you.
Thsi is about as far from christianity as you can get, satanism/witchcraft.

Where in the bible does it give us instructiosn on the godly, biblical way of using witchcraft?

What verse is that in, where they were TOLD to use astrology? They were unbelievers, praticing paganism, the were not godly men.

Gina, you have taken verse after verse in bible out of context, and twisted them so much they don't even look like scripture anymore. And all so you can have your way and pratice astrology/witchcraft/paganiam/sataniam. Choose God, not self desires, wordlyness, pagaism. Trust Him, not satan's lies.

Astrology: The study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs.

Gina, are you referring to the Magi? Matthew 2:2 and 2:9? That certainly seems to fit in with the dictionary definition of astrology.

As for Bible codes, I have no idea. I won't discount the possibilities of God by saying it's impossible, but nor do I have any evidence for them. If anything, the Bible is a code itself. Do we not have to "solve" it, in a manner of speaking?

Gina, could it be that you're saying that you believe in astronomy rather than astrology? Astronomy is just study of the stars, for times and seasons, for direction, etc. Astrology is study of the stars to foretell the future and other mystical things.

    Hopefully,

    Rebecca

Kelly, I think the key word in your definition of astrology is "influence." I don't think the wise men believed that the star or stars "made" the baby be born.

We should be applying ourselves to understand the Bible. But I don't know if I would say we "solve" it.

Whoa. What a ruckus! Just got home from the church and find PM's and emails galore over someone saying they believe in astrology.

I don't, but let's be careful and debate the subject through and through. Definitions of terms may answer the seeming difficulties. [IMG]

And yes, I think burning Gina at the stake is the only long-term answer. Right.

    American Heritage Dictionary-Standard Edition.

The star that led the Magi to the Baby Jesus was given them for a sign, it was also a beacon to guide them to the Messiah. It seems that "Astrology" fits better than the term "Astronomy ."

LOL, you got pm's over me saying that? Funny, *I* didn't get any! If anyone is concerned over this here I am. [IMG] Speak.

Yes, I meant astrology. Astronomy would be the study of what makes up things like stars, their chemical properties, surroundings, etc..
No, I do not read horoscopes in the newspaper or change anything in my life based on what the stars might "predict".
Yet..I have no problem with farmers who judge the signs in the sky and use them.
I have no problem with the star of Jesus.
I have no problem with God using the stars, sun, and moon for signs to us.

The wise men seem to have either not been pagan or they converted when they were mentioned, for they saw the star that was the sign of Christ, rejoiced, and followed it to fall at the child's feet and worship.
Does this sound like the behavior of the unsaved?

Potatoes, Green Beans, Peas, Squash, cucumbers are all planted by the signs of the moon, which are in the sky.

I live in the country, and we plant all those things by the moon.

We fish by the moon. If the moon is half shaped up/down, you cannot fish, the moon holds no water. If it is half moon, laying down, plenty of fish. As long as the water does not pour out of the moon you can fish.

The moon also controls the ocean tides, and I do believe God gave each star a name, and the one that fell, his name was wormwood.

    God Bless,
    Sherrie

We don't use witchcraft here, we go by the callendar, and weather reports, which is for the last frost, so you don't freeze kill your plants.

We fish at night when we do go fishing, but only becasue we like the cool rather then the hot of the day, nothing to do with the moon, we don't use pagan techniques to try and catch fish.

Great line Sherrie. It is clearly everyone else that has the problem. Nothing like trying to manipulate those around you to get you way. You know what, I tire of your tactics. Participate in an intelligent manner, or quit. Every other month we all get to look forward to your threats and anger.

"... as Christian as I am going to be". So, you admit you are acting like a pagan? It makes perfect sense that a moderator would take your advice then doesn't it?
