28 And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
    Judges 16:28

I have been thinking about Samson and I was curious as to what kind of prayer life he had. Do you think that in his statement above he is asking God to remember him because he has not been close to God in some while or is he simply asking God to remember him as a way of asking for God's attention.

"Remember me" is a hebraism still used in prayers today. It is an admission of a sovereign God and helpless man.

    Some examples:

Nice to see Samson finally turn to God for strength, instead of on his own, as he had always done. He cried out for God to avenge, not for himself.

Samson HAD God's strength until he broke his vow and allowed his hair to be cut short.

Sue---unlike Samson going to "Burford's" for a clip and shave---he got his "ears lowered" at Hell's Barber Shop! The power was in the obedience--God said not to cut his hair--he cut his hair--thus the strength left and he "wist not that it was gone!"

    He lost his sight!
    He lost his sanity!
    He was made a slave!
    He was made a sport!

Just like us when we disobey!!

Yes blackbird...You've got the name wrong though. He got his hair cut at "Delilah's Salon". :D

The thought just struck me...I am kind of slow sometimes...doesn't the name Delilah remind you of the word 'delight'?

He must have been a really heavy sleeper, to have had all his hair cut off when it had never been cut before. I'd like to find a barber like Delilah who can manage it like that, so I could sleep through the whole thing.
