Affordable Education?

This is the dilemma that faces everyone in your shoes. A solid Christian education is worth every penny and every sacrifice. Do you have a wife who will be working as well? Have you explored all financial aid possibilities, including grants, scholarships, and (as a last resort) loans?

If you're looking for external education, Liberty University is good and affordable. It is fully accredited as well which is a huge plus.

A young man from my church took 10 years to complete his college training, graduating from Maranatha BB College in 1999 with a bachelor's degree. He had two children when he started and five when he finished. He was able to graduate with no loans and he is now pastoring a new church here in our state. He took the classes he could afford and took as much time as he needed to get through and God has blessed him for it.

I can identify with your concern about affordability, as I will be starting Bible college this fall and have a wife and two children. We will also be moving over 500 miles away from family and friends, because we believe this is where God wants us and He will provide.

Fortunately, a lot of the colleges, that have training men and women for full time ministry as their primary focus, have recognized the fact that not a lot of men are called into the ministry right out of high school. I found the Baptist College of Florida to be very affordable with tuition and on campus housing. They also have a program that will allow you to major in theology while taking classes only on Satudays and still finish in four years. It makes for a long Saturday, but would allow you to have time for a job to support your family. I can't say that it would be the right school for you because I don't know your situation, but there are schools out there that have similar programs. They are very affordable.

 

Have you taken classes yet or just enrolled? I am weary of this college. Their website states that you do not have to write a thesis for a master or Doctorate degree. Is that normal?

I have not taken the courses yet. It is different that they do not require a dissertation or thesis. But they are acredited. I just need to finish and this is the best way for me.

They are accredited but not by a recognized agency. This may prove problematic for you in the future.

Mercer can be very affordable if you are a member of a Baptist Church. They will help you find scholarships. Besides, if you are really serious about it, you will find a way. Good luck to you and God be with you.

 

Mid-America, where I will be going in the next few years, is extremely affordable. You can take 5 courses for a total of $500. Probably only SBTS and SEBTS could compare theologically. Any liberals around that school will probably have someone witness to him. (as it should be).

 

Hi pilgrimage. Unfortunately, the "ecumenical corporations" are more interested in monetary PROFITS, than they are in making true Christian education available to all financial stratas. Many of these schools don't have truth anyway.

You can prepare yourself for the LORD's work by prayerfully studying your Bible. Furthermore, you can do the LORD's work RIGHT NOW, by reaching out to the hurt, the broken, the afflicted. If you think you can only do the "Lord's Work" by becoming ordained (if that is your goal), then you are very sadly mistaken. Ordination is a CAREER, it is RARELY a calling.

I wish you well in your search. It won't be easy.
