Now your lower quote seems and admission that the passion film is OK. As to the former quote you may be correct but as far as the gospel is concerned a little leaven spoils the whole. While I too am concerned about Mel's scriptural errors I realize that even the smallest error places any other Biblical film that has an error in the same class. I am sure I could scrutinize and find errors in Ben Hur and even the ten commandments, but God has taken their error whether intentional or not and worked it for good. Actually as I look at my life and I feel Paul agrees, I believe God often develops the most good out of the biggest error. If that is the case then this movie will do alot of good.

Mary kissing the dead or dying Jesus on the feet and getting His blood in her mouth? That's not a serious error? Devil in Gethsemane, rather than angel? No big deal? Jesus dangling by a chain over a cliff? Harmless imaginative addition? Mary strong and Jesus weak? Not a ridiculous portrayal?

The errors, including morbid obsession and exaggeration of the scourging, are monumental in The Passion. A truly horrible depiction of gospel story.

Now get ready for something just as bad probably: ABC's "Judas" 2 hour special on Monday, March 8, 2004.

I can't wait to avoid seeing this new distortion of a Bible story. See thunderstruck.com (I think is the web site) for a detailed review. (It's late and I'm gettting groggy here, my brothers and sisters).

The "Judas" ABC tv special apparently tries to make Judas look good and Jesus look like some trippy hippy pacifist who is out of touch with political reality.

Forget it. I despise huge blunders of scriptural twisting and doctrines of devil.

Murph writes something along the lines

"I could scrutinize . . . ten commandments and find errors"

    To which Blackbird responds

    "Char . . . Char . . . Char . . . Charlton Heston??? Mister NRA??? Make mistakes?? Errors by Charlton Heston??"

Does this or will this have a reflection on Blackbird's NRA membership??

    Dear vaspers,

I note your repeated stated concerns for doctrinal purity.
In another thread you very quickly allude to problems you have with the terms "trinity" and "God the Son".
There is One God in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
    Do you question this?

Karen, I guess I'm in league with John Wesley who believed God is three: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, but did not believe any specific formulation of the "Trinity" (a non-biblical term, check any concordance) was entirely correct or worth subscribing to.

I speak of God the Father, the Son of God (who is my Lord and my God, the perfect manifestation of God in the flesh), and God who is Spirit (John 4:24) and Holy, thus The Holy Spirit, who came down to dwell in us on Pentecost.

No, I never say "God the Son" since that phrase is not in the Bible. Jesus was God in the flesh, the Word was with God and was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

At Promise Keepers, they made a big deal about Jesus being the good Father you may have never had. Silly. I got up and left after two hours of goofy PK propaganda, walking through their enormous "money changers in the temple" installment selling hats, CDs, tee shirts, cassettes, all sorts of PK junk.

Jesus cannot be The Father and The Son, nor can He be The Holy Spirit. See all the confusion that results from sloppy theology and lack of Biblical accuracy?

That is not the point. The Lord's Supper and the Crucifixion are connected. That is true whether you are Protestant, Catholic or Orthodox. The differances between the three traditions is in what way we view that connection.

Not the point again. Neither you or I know whether she was a real person or not. The evidence for her is shaky at the very best but we cannot say with 100% certainty she did not exist.

Have you even seen the movie to make such a statement? The Scriptures used such as the Sermon on the mount, The Last Supper, John 14:6, words from the cross as well as others are not supporting Roman Catholic doctrines.

Paidagogos: Wrong. The connection is there and it is distinctly Roman Catholic. The point is that Gibson deliberately and artistically made the connection to teach his RC theology. My bet is that Mel wouldn’t deny it. To deny this is to take a deconstructionist view of this film and genre. Mel knew what he was doing and did it his way to get his message (i.e. the Roman Catholic view) across. My mind is boggled at how naïve and undiscerning evangelicals can be.

Paidagogos: Can you prove with 100% certainty that dinosaurs don’t exist? This is an inanity. How can you prove that Peter Pan doesn’t exist? BTW, this is not the point. The point is that it teaches a false, trivial doctrine of miracles.

Have you even seen the movie to make such a statement? The Scriptures used such as the Sermon on the mount, The Last Supper, John 14:6, words from the cross as well as others are not supporting Roman Catholic doctrines.
</font>[/QUOTE]Paidagogos: That is not my point—you missed it. Read my post again and try to understand. You added nothing and took nothing away from my argument. Bye!

I am sure Gibson did it out of his Roman Catholic beliefs regarding the Supper. I do not deny that. The point is whether you are Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant, you must believe there is a connection between the Lord's Supper and the Crucifixion and that is distinctly Christian NOT Roman Catholic!

Actually I believe dinosaurs did exist and whether they exist today I don't know.

Because it is a fairy tale that has no historical support.

Did you see the movie? No miracle occurs, it only shows her wiping Jesus face. Regardless of the Veronica legend (which I by they way do not believe to be true) How many times have I heard Baptists read the poem "The Legend of the Dogwood" [IMG] Catholics are not the only ones to have legends. I think many people need to realize THIS IS A MOVIE and must be judged that way.
