It was very difficult to even find those recipes as you did not post a link to the recipes in the recipes thread. What was prevalent on that site was that it was not a recipe site, but a site on how to dress according to someones standards, with links on Amish dresses and head coverings.

"No~what I said is...this is typical of what you will find when you try to walk close to Jesus".

Ed searchs the dregs of his memory for
the old phrase -- twenty years ago on
a bulletin board. Ah there it is:

your halo is on too tight

    Tithing cummin (see Matthew 23:23)

    1 Peter 4:15 (KJV1769):
But let none of you suffer as a murderer,
or as a thief, or as an evildoer,
or as a busybody in other men's matters.

2 Timothy 4:2, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, EXHORT with all longsuffering and doctrine."

Titus 2:15, "These things speak, and EXHORT, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee."

Hebrews 3:13, "But EXHORT one another DAILY, while it is called today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfullness of sin."

Now, if your wife Thankful has no care to read this thread that is her business. No one makes anyone read these threads. I saw some threads a while back in the ladies section about coloring hair and another one on what color do you paint your nails.

I had no interest in these threads so I choose not read them nor post on them. They were of no interest to me and my sanctification. So, I did not join them and try to talk anyone out of coloring or painting themselves.

A side thought here: I find that for me one of the main troubles with a message board is that topics tie together, yet it is difficult to respond in that way.

But anyway, I guess I will have to have a rare disagreement with you, Brother Ed. [IMG]
Discussing topics on a debate section of a message board is not being a busybody in other men's matters.
I don't have the slightest intention of dressing as HCL or Walls do, but it doesn't bother me, either, that they think I should or that they exhort me to do so.
EACH of us receives and gives exhortations on all kinds of things. And it isn't the worst thing in the world to me when somebody says I am wrong. If we all can't handle a little of that, we (speaking generically) should stay off of debate forums.
I have a strange sense of humor, I guess. It is all in the issue being discussed. If my husband were a member of this board, donnA and Walls would never get around to their areas of disagreement, because they would BOTH be exhorting my husband and telling him he was WRONG because he enjoys Harry Potter.
And nothing wrong with them doing that, in my opinion. And it does not follow, therefore, that he must do as they say.

Many of us on the "modern" side on these clothing threads do face a danger of being misunderstood. We, in my opinion, come too close to implying that truth is ONLY a matter of internal, subjective, individual preference. I don't think that is what most of us are meaning, but it comes close to sounding like that. "If God tells you that, fine, you should do that, but God tells me something different."

Thank-you, SisHcl~that's what I'm trying to say too. When these ladies email me about wanting to walk closer to the Lord, but are afraid to post for fear of being attacked, I simply tell them the closer they get to Jesus, the worse it gets.

I am in no way a 'holier-than-thou' & I kinda resent being classified as such. But hey, it don't really bother me any, cause they first persecuted my Saviour, eh?

How did I get into this? What did I do?

Yes, I color my hair and paint my nails. I wear dresses, pants, hats, swim suits. all modest clothing. I really don't care what any of the other ladies wear. I am trying to avoid responding to the inference that all these are not godly or that Jesus does not walk with me. I am not offended in any way because I know my own heart.

    Right,
I am like Paul who called himself the chiefest of sinners. But, just as we want to tell people all about what Jesus did for us at Calvary we also want to tell others about the joy of following Him in 1 Corinthians 11:16.

I'll have to say I was astonished by the above.
An anabaptist church that calls itself Baptist is, well, Baptist. Traditional Baptist distinctives are not tied to headcoverings, etc., but things like believer's baptism by immersion.
I live close to an area of various types of anabaptist congregations. There is nothing inherent about promotion of the traditional lifestyles of Anabaptists that leads to rancor and animosity. On this board, out of 5000 + members, rancor has existed because a couple of us always get too worked up and personal over these issues. About 5000 of us haven't.
But regardless, for any of us, we don't have to read what doesn't interest us.

I am glad you are not offended. The reason I mentioned you is that your husband implied that if we teach about headcoverings we are somehow busybodies in other men's affairs.

If you have no interest in headcoverings that truly that is your business. I am just asking for freedom to discuss this with others, that is all.

And this is a board owned by the webmaster so it is his choice what is and what is not allowed here.

</font>[/QUOTE]That is exactly what many have been saying. I have no interest in many of the threads here so I don't read them, nor do I post on them.
