I didn't think of the language barrier. [IMG]

You would think I would have!

I'll go think about it more.

We are looking forward to it very much!

Oh! I almost forgot, but we just made plans today to go to a Candidate School in March. This doesn't mean we will be going on deputation right away, but we will be checking it out and getting our feet wet, so to speak.

I bet it can be difficult to get believers to stay where they are most effective for God, instead of dreaming up a vision of a call to the "Walmart in the sky" . . .

Wonderful! Wet feet are a good thing in a missionary. [IMG]

I know this is somewhat different than from what may be expected in this thread...formerly I served as a missionary to the children here in NYC. Although this isn't a foreign mission field (per se), in some ways, I felt it to be, having come from Louisville, Kentucky. I have asked, and asked for folks to come here to help, and just couldn't get any help. After Sept 11th, some expressed interest, and even sent funds. Even now that I'm not considered a missionary we have asked for help from three or four churches in Louisville, and others to send their teens here on short term trips (a week or two) during the summer, and to no avail. (Except for a church from Northern Indiana). Come on over to N.Y. and help us!

    Pastor Kevin R,

may I ask what sort of ministry you do among the children there? What ages?

Is this in a church situation? a mission? or something else?

What would we be sending our kids to do....is it a camp style ministry?

I am no longer a children's missionary, but a local IFB church Pastor. However, we do place emphasis on our Youth, and simply need help to evangelize and to disciple. I'm praying for a young man to come as a Youth Pastor, but we can't afford to pay him...(we have a 21 y/o in our church who I'm praying catches the vision for this, he already helps with our Youth Group, praise God).

    thank you, Pastor... [IMG]

It sounds interesting. I have no influence over what our teens do here from my church, but maybe I can mention it. We are an inner city church here as well, so I think I understand some of the struggles you go through.
