what's so enjoyable about getting scared?

    Too much adrenalin can lead to serious complications. I know, because I take medication daily to keep my adrenalin level under control. :tear:

    Since my heart attack, no one even sneaks up behind me and says "boo". :thumbs:

    I do practical jokes on April 1st, but they certainly are not the type that would scare anyone... :godisgood:

    You should be grateful that there are people in this world that like the thrill of adrenaline. For the most part the following jobs are filled with these adrenaline seekers.

    Fire fighters
    Millitary
    Emergency room nurses and Dr.s
    Police
    SWAT teams
    Search and Rescue

    Dont get me wrong there are other reasons that these people do what they do. They like the feeling of helping people they are good neighbors they are profesionals. But one of the biggest reasons they choose their job is they like adrenaline. The Emergincy room nurse could help people working in a pediatritians office but they seek the ER because of the thrill. The SWAT team member lives for repeling into a building where somebody wants to take a shot at him, he dreams about it.

    Your judgement against people who are not just like you are inmature and not well thought out. I will credit it to your age but you should think about things. Maybe listen to somebody.

    I agree to those people being normal. What about the person, even with this occupation, who fantisizes of zombies or serial killers eating up and mutilating people?

    "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

    They need a new focus. That's unhealthy, period. Enjoying the rush of a roller-coaster, whitewater rafting, saving someone in danger, or the like is not even comparable to dwelling on evil, depravity, violence, and the like.

    Your question seems to be evolving. You started asking about people who enjoy being scared to people who enjoy practical jokes now to people who fantisize about zombies.

    I would say it depends on the level of fantisy. Are we talking about somebody who daydreams, studies and is otherwise obsesed with death, serial killers, and the occult. Or are we talking about somebody who reads a true crime novel or who watches a zombie movie once in a while.

    Also it is hard for me to put all zombe movies in the same catigory. Some are just blood and shock value. Some may have value as a work of fiction. I guess everybody has to decide for themselfs where to draw the line.

    Let me ask you this.

    The sculpture of David by Michelangelo. Is it pornography? It is a naked person. Is it sinful to look at it? Do you see where I am going with this?

    What about shakespear, alot of his plays are full of violence, romance and some of the same elements as moderen horror movies. Is there any artistic value or is it all trash?

    I guess I am just saying that sometimes entertainment is just that entertaining and a way to relax. It is not real and most who watch it do not secretly want to be serial killers. Some of the movies have value as works of fiction. Fiction is a form of art and has redeeming value in itself.

    I read an artical the other day (wish I could find it, probably posted somewhere here) that compaired a movie Night of The Living Dead to Star Trek. The artical mentioned that at least zombe flicks pointed out that a body without a soul were depraved animals. In other words it is only Gods grace that keeps us from being animals without sense of right and wrong. The article contrasts that with star trek where people are basicly good and thru their own exploration and learning the human race is more and more good and peaceful. Star trek is a tale of what man can do on his own if he puts his mind to it.

    I'm not much into horror movies, I don't have fun being scared.

    But as far as "thrill rides", I think you misunderstand them if you think people like them because they are scary. They are fun! I jumped out of a plane once and it was a blast. And I LOVE to sit in the front seat of roller coasters. It is not about being scared, it is just fun in itself to move fast and cycle upside down. If your scared while doing it, it won't be any fun at all.
