There are Pharisees on every corner, lurking, in every church, in every denomination.

we have a 12 foot one

it is beautiful. We also have a nativity scene and an advent wreath.
Every Sunday before Christmas we have a different family or group come up and give a short talk about advent and light the next candle.
Rather than be a distraction, I feel it reminds people of the celebration of Christ birth and that it is to be a time of rejoicing and excitement.

Our church is always beautifully decorated in honor of our Lord's Birth!

Yes, we have a tree and the only problem I have with it is that it always has to be moved so that I can see the music director and it blocks my view of the choir, but as long as I can see the director, I'm okay.

We usually have a tree in the fellowship hall so the children can make homemade scripture ornaments. No santas or such allowed.

Here is my mega-church's rather ostentatious and immodest giant Christmas tree, complete with our choir stuffed inside. It hasn't really bothered me in the past, but, anymore, I'm starting to have second thoughts about it. I guess maybe it's because I'm getting older and such things don't impress me like they used to. It seems kind of over-the-top and somewhat showy. Even for a mega-church.
They put that behemoth front and center right up on stage every Christmas season, so you can't pretend it's not there no matter how hard you try. I've tried to imagine what Jesus would say if he were to walk into our church and saw that.

Maybe, "Scoot over brother, I want to join the choir"

I wonder if Jesus could sing? And if he was a tenor, or bass?

Hey, I can wonder... can't I... sorta like what others wonder about whether or not Jesus would want a Christmas tree... or even Christmas.

Unlike every modern musical and Easter cantata I've seen lately, I believe Jesus was a bass. I mean think about it... can you imagine the creator of the universe singing like John Denver? :tongue3:

    Christmas trees

The church that I used to go to put one up in the sanctuary. We used it as a grief tree and put ornaments on it that reminded us of the loved ones that we had lost during that year or in our lives. It was a good reminder that God gives us the strength that we need to go on with our lives even at Christmas.

Because of Chrsitmas first back group I disagree with haveing them in my chruch!
We are to be not part of the world, Be ye what? SEPERATE saith the Lord. If your church does it for the world to see is that rong... yeah. Why, well were suppose to conduct ourselves as Christ would have, not as we think he would have, as we know he would have! Abstain from all appearence of evil... does not the Lord say this? To give you a background on Christmas trees they were used by druids for many of their practices and the garlan was actually the intestines of some of their sacrifices. If that is not enough then here are some more facts about the former Christmas tree users, the druids had afore time and maybe now, I doubt it, went form house to house in some parts requiring a sacrifice at each house or they would kill everyone in side! That should be reason enough!

Isn't it wonderful that God can make something good out of what Satan meant for evil?

Everything in this world was created by God and God meant it for good. Satan is the one who perverted these things into something evil. The Christians are just taking them back.

I don't bow down and worship my Christmas tree, neither do I see it as something Satanic.

God grew that tree - not Satan. [IMG]
