I'm about to be banned for defending the KJV on a KJVO message board...how odd

No need to yell. I'm just telling you what I asked them (since they said that passage was about the KJV). Instead of answering me, I was banned instead.

In that case, I'm impressed by their tolerance! :D

I dropped by there, but I think I would either have nothing to say or get banned within five minutes. Do they ban you for quoting from the NIV or the NASB, for instance? I saw in the youth forum they were vehemently KJVO, saying things like God had rescued them from apostasy when they had slipped into using the NKJV. :eek:

My,My,My Censorship, I thought that went out with the nazi's. What happened to the First Amendment? Is it possible that was banned?
What's wrong with the KJV? I don't use it as often as NKJV, NIV or NASB. I do use it occasionally. I have all the aforementioned Bibles in my library. I'm going to get the Ampified Bible next, I wonder if I will be censored if I quote any of these other Bibles.
:eek: :confused: [IMG] :( :rolleyes: [IMG]

</font>
I don't know if they'd ban you for that, but I do know that they ban you for saying anything positive about rock music or CCM.

I always thought that was funny, that they would have a disclaimer that says "NO ROCK OR CHRISTIAN ROCK" and then have a hundred threads condemning Christian rock music.

I was actually banned under another name for saying that I liked "The Passion of the Christ".

I posted a similar thread on crosswalk.com and I've gotten more PMs and e-mails from people who have been banned from that board over something stupid.

There are basically two guys who run the boards - and I swear to you, I am not making this up - Ben and Jerry, and the trick to staying in the board's good graces is to appease these two guys and tell them what they want to hear.

They don't allow any sincere discussion of scripture or culture or current events and anybody who rocks the boat gets booted.

Go and look at what I'm saying in the thread about wearing shorts and tell me what I've said that's so outrageous. This guy's apoplectic because I told him that the Bible was written in another language and then translated into English.

The first ammendment does not protect Americans from being censored by a private institution like a message board. It protects folks from being censored by the government, although this is not entirely true either with FCC censorship.

I don't mind that, so much. I mean, after all, it's their board and they can run it any way they want to.

I just think the hypocrisy is funny.

A private owner of any board can ban anyone he wants.

Oh, it won't bother me a bit. I already post on three message boards, so I'll have plenty of places to go.

It's not the getting banned, it's just the irony of being banned for defending the KJV on a KJVO message board.

I stand corrected, I didn't realize this board was private. I've done it again, I've stepped on some toes. One would think that someone as old as I'am would learn. I guess I'm too thick headed!

Did you read the first part of their statement.

"We also believe that the KJV is God's preserved words for the English speaking people. We are not interested in arguing or debating as these message boards were set up for IFB to fellowship and uplift our Lord Jesus Christ."

They don't want debate, just uncontested ignorance.

Or.....just maybe.....all they want is simple fellowship with likeminded folks with some Bible discusiion tossed in for good measure.

nuttin' wrong with that. At least I don't think there is. Of course if YOU don't agree then please explain why you go to the church you do. Is it not to assemble with LIKEMINDED folks???

BTW: In my opinion the following statement shows much MORE ignorance than the alledged ignorance of the board in question... "They don't want debate, just uncontested ignorance."

In HIS service;
Jim

Not a chance my friend ;) [IMG] .

I have no problems with OLB. If one doesn't like it or the way it is run they don't have to go there.

It's their board and they can run it anyway they want.

</font>
I find this really ironic that they say they don't want argument or debate, but they're constantly starting arguments and debates.

Kind of like when they say "no rock or Christian rock" and then have a couple hundred threads talking about rock and Christian rock.

So, I'm posting on onlinebaptist.com and there's a thread on wearing shorts.

"One of the mods tells me that showing your thigh is being naked, according to scripture, so I point out to him that the word commonly translated as "thigh" is showq, which is actually referring to the calf of the leg.

Now, I'm about to be banned.

I'm confused. "

That is okay I was banned too, I was told I don't play well with others. I actually refuse to kiss up to the trouble makers, they let some slam slam slam but if you stand up for yourself, you get banned. Oh well there are other boards and yes I am expecting a fun reaction and possibly lesbian stalkers to reply.
