Will this new law prove effective? What do you think?

One would love to think so standingfirm, but Ive seen three peats with no problem whatsoever with the offending of the law part, just the tedious task of having to stand in court yet again and hear the same message over and over...shameful.

 

Although I have doubts as to the 'success' of this scarlet letter type of punishment, I am interested to see if the rate of repeat offenses is changed at all. Unfortunately that will take time, and there's probably a good chance some "civil liberties" group will get this law invalidated before it effectiveness can be evaluated.

 

I think few people are embarassed about anything these days. I don't think it will help except that the roads will probably be cleaner.

They (drunk drivers) need councelling (hopefully Christian counceling), not humiliation. They need to see what destruction they can cause if they don't turn. Not to be molly coddeled with orange vest stating their offence. As Bro. Ian stated and like I say its true few people are embarrassed now a days about anything they have done under the sun.

What they ought to do before they make a law like this, they ought to put several positions up on the table or run them thru a pre trial test and vote for the one that has the best results.
People who drink may already have low self esteem about themselfs. Do you really think this law will be a solve all? Is this a Christian thing to do?

Nowhere does it say that "this law will be a solve all"!

It's A possible solution for SOME of the offenders.Disagree with the position stated if you don't like it, but don't start putting words into another's mouth and then disagreeing!

If applicable at all, I see this verse meaning we should do all possible to get the sots off the road to protect the innocent, not being nice to the drunks just to avoid their "humiliation".

 

No we ought to try and make that offender see the repercussion of his choice to drink and drive, so that we can better protect the innocent. Also get the drunk driver counceling to hopefully get to the root of the problem why they drink in the first place. If after being showed and taught what is acceptable and the offender repeats the offence then throw then in jail and keep them off the streets. Shouldn't they have a chance to be reformed.
