What about Jim Mora, Jr.? Has name been mentioned for the Dallas job? I think he seems like a pretty good coach. Or did I remember seeing that he got an assistant job somewhere?

No rumors on the sports talk stations or from the cowboy beat reporters about Lovie - I think chicago is safe.

This afternoon, the talk is all Norv and Wade -

I am not sure why Dallas would go for either Wade or Norv. I think they are 2 examples of guys that are just meant to be assistants. They are good at what they do, but not really head coach material.

If I was the Cowboys, I would get Mike Singletary.

Who knows about ROmo - he was great in his first 5 games, but New Orleans exposed him. he seemed to try to hard and the fumbles and ints kicked in. Put Norv in charge of his development and we will see. Aikman credits Norv with his development as a qb, and that may be enough for jerry.

The big magnificent tuna's undoing was his loss of fire as the head coach. Romo reignited it for a while, but in my opinion he was outcoached several times - number one being new orleans followed by the loss to philly.

I heard a rumor about singletary yesterday - good baylor boy, great player, good man. I would welcome him, but wonder if he could stand up against jerry. Norv and Wade could.

Jerry likes people he knows and is comfortable with, he and Norv reportedly have a great relationship.

There is also talk about the defensive coordinator at chicago, he sounds intriguing. My dark horse candidate is Urban Meyer

Oh boy, more drugs and corruption in big D. Maybe this time they will issue fire arms with the uniforms.

I don't think that would be a problem. Singletary is his own man and I don't think he would back down one bit from Jones.

That would be Ron Rivera. He is a solid guy as well. But I would just as soon yall leave the Chicago guys alone :)

That would be an intriguing selection. Any more rumors on Bob Stoops?

In the paper today, it had that Bob had said he isn't hunting for a job at this point in time.

ESPN is reporting that the Cowboys will hire Jason Garrett in some capacity either as OC or maybe even Head Coach.

They also reported that the Cowboys have no interest in pursuing Lovie Smith. This makes me very happy.

Talk on the sports stations this morning - Jason Garrett. Supposedly Jerry and The big magnificent tuna were very impressed. At this point I would not be at all suprised if Garrett is named the next cowboy coach. Evidently his reviews as qb coach at miami were very high. He follows the model of a player who made himself a valuable assett to his teams as a player, who though not a star was well thought of - ala Avery Johnson at the mavs, and then as an assistant coach.

It is a big jump going from qb coach to head coach - but he is older than the other recent hires in the NFL. I think he would be someone who could grow into the job and be a long term solution. Bring in a good defensive coordinator (Dave Campo? or even wade phillips as assistant head coach for the defense and lets see what happens.

we may get news today on Garretts hiring - Miami has required that if the boys want him for a coordinator position they need to know today so that they can firm up thier offseason plans!

The Cowboys wouldn't grant the Browns permission to interview Garret as the OC, so you might have something here.

Dallas Morning News is reporting that Garrett has been hired as the offensive coordinator - and perhaps the head coach. Jerry just got permission from new orleans to interview Gary Gibbs, formerly of the boys and OU
