The biggest marketing fraud in the history man. Take the most abundant thing on the planet, put it in a fancy bottle with a pristine Alaskan landscape, and for the price of about 10,000 gallons of perfectly safe tap water, gullible Americans, in their self-absorbed desire to look "chic", will fall hook ,line and sinker.

It has nothing to do with looking "chic" for me. Have you seen me?

I drink bottled water (mostly from a water cooler) because our tap water tastes like sulphur in my office. Besides, if people want to spend their money on Dasani, Aquafina or whatever, who are you to question that?

That's like me saying that I prefer Coke over Pepsi, and everyone who drinks Pepsi is a freak.

    Well, aren't they?

    Exactly.

Oh, and everybody knows things go better with Coke.

Hey, wait a minute, I am one of those bottle water freaks!

I don't drink any sodas. I only drink water and juice, and one daily cup of tea. I have to be a water freak, the water out of my tap is nasty. Tastes like clorox. Even boiling it, then letting it get very cold, does not take away the clorox taste. It has gotten better over the last few years but I prefer bottled water because the tap water is still gross.

I buy the cheap gallon brands of bottled water and even cook with it. Our water here has an odd, trace odor of rotten eggs that is very prominent when drinking it and cooking with it. You can't really tell it when taking a shower or watering the flowers.

I'm 45 years old. I am way too smart and too sophisticated to think that a brand name bottle of water in my hand makes me look chic.

Hey, I'm chic enough without it.

I will buy a brand name bottle of water from a soda machine if I am thirsty or feel like I need some water. And I do keep some brand names in my 'frig because they are small bottles.

    But, I really prefer Sprite.

A bottle of water is convenient to carry because you can throw it away, and you can refill it during the day if you have decent water around.

My wife grew up in an area with an incredible water system. This water is GOOD (I've tasted it on a few visits there)--at least as good or better than most bottled water as far as clarity, taste, and smell go. Because of this, she can't stand to drink the tap water at our house, so we buy bottled water to drink. We still cook with tap water, and I sometimes refill my bottles with tap water.

The local water is a bit high in sodium, so I used bottle water for drinking. The tap water is fine for cooking, though.

The bottles are nice for transporting water, and I refill them where they use lake water, which is not high in sodium.

I have to agree, that it makes no sense at all to buy "high end" bottled water. In some cases, it's not as healthy as tap water.

We have the most delicious water from our well, there is, and we take it with us everywhere. We even have 5 gallon containers for camping.

I used to live in a house where the water was from a well.
Everytime we turned the water on we had a natural gas smell...
Sure enough, I filled up a 20 ounce bottle almost to the top.
Put the cap on it, and shook it up real good.
Lit a match and took off the cap real fast.
I then stuck the match to the top of the botte., and flames shot off the water!

I started using bottled water then!

You all need to move to Ireland.

Our tap water is absolutely marvelous! I only buy bottled water if I am out and thirsty for water since there are incredibly few water fountains here.

But...I keep the bottle and try to remember to refill it and take it next time I am on the road ;).

Hmm, think I'll go get a nice glass of cool, refreshing, wonderful tasting tap water!

I supposed it was like you saying that. Then you said it. Therefore it definitely is "like" it.

Years ago I was a grounds keeper for an apartment complex in Birmingham AL. One of my duties was to care for the pool and hot tub. By law I was required to drain the hot tub once a week and refill it. Once the hot tub was refilled it was necessary to close it by law. This is because the water right out of the city tap was so high in chlorine and ph that it was illegal to have it open for public use.

In other words it was legal to drink the city water but it was illegal to sit in it. But who ever said that government oversight was done out of intelligence.
