House GOP hits shift of spy funds to study climate

    By Christina Bellantoni
    THE WASHINGTON TIMES
    May 4, 2007

Senior House Republicans are complaining about Democrats' plans to divert "scarce" intelligence funds to study global warming.
The House next week will consider the Democrat-crafted Intelligence Authorization bill, which includes a provision directing an assessment of the effects that climate change has on national security.
"Our job is to steal secrets," said Rep. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, the ranking Republican on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
"There are all kinds of people analyzing global warming, the Democrats even have a special committee on this," he told The Washington Times. "There's no value added by the intelligence community here; they have no special expertise, and this takes money and resources away from other threats."

    snip

"It's hard to imagine how anyone could believe that climate change represents a more clear and present danger to the United States than radical Islamic terrorists armed with bombs, but that's essentially what Democrats have concluded in this bill," said Brian Kennedy, a spokesman for Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican.

At least we got a choice between a left wing socialist NWO or a right wing fascist NWO (lesser of two evils anyone?). I'd choose a constitutional republic myself, but that isn't a choice we're being offered is it?

No, we should simply ignore the whole proposterous notion of global warming. It simply doesn't exist..... especially if the folks at the Washington Times doesn't think so. After all, the "messiah" owns that newspaper.

I think "global warming" has more to do with conditioning people to pay a global tax and accepting more regulations and less liberties than the weather. We're going to have a global government one way or the other and it will need the power to tax globally.

Start thinking and stop trying to misdirect.

If Congress wishes to study global warming(whether or not it exists is a moot point), it is idiotic to take money from the intelligence funds to do so.

Especially now. Some democrats are so stupid when it comes to national security, it's painful to watch them in action.

Ok, I must have a fever, because I am getting ready to agree with carpro!

In this piece, Global Warming and whether it exists is not up for debate. What they are doing is wrong and it would be equally wrong if the Republicans tried a stunt like this.

I think we should study Global warming, not because of doom and gloom, but becuase we sure be good stewards of God's world. To this degree, I think the Native American Indian did a better job of this than us.

But to take funds set side for something else and use it is wrong. If they want to study it, then they should come up with it's own program and it's own funding and have it pass the congress on it's own.

No, that's not the point. There is no such thing as global warming, remember? To spend money on something that simply does not exist is foolish.

I need to go to the doctor immediately.

I am in agreement with Carpro.

Global warming is a fact, and it needs to be studied. However, this method of securing funds is as stupid as, say, going to war in Iraq.

People in the government in both parties have diverted funds from one area to another for decades. Just look at Social Security. I'm not saying that it is right, just that it seems to be a common practice.

I agree with your post, but this made me laugh. There has been alot of changes since the American Indians were in control of the country. Internal combustion for example.

Native Americans have moved right along with the rest of sociaty. I dont know if you have noticed but not many of them are riding horses as a main form of transportation.

But the point is this in not the right time to divert any funds from inteligence.

This is bad for us. And bad for them. We all know another attack is comming sometime. When it does look for all Republicans to throw this in their face. They will take the majority of the blame for diverting funds from inteligence.

Yea, I shouldn't have said as they did do or have done. :)

People change as society changes. I guess my main point was we need to be good stewards of this earth, but without the Doom and Gloom talk. That is where it crosses the line in my book.

The global warming scare is potentially big business for politicans, regulators, lawyers, and consultants:

    The Great Global Warming Swindle

The consultants are already knocking on doors and have some industries running scared trying to get a jump on regulations they think are forthcoming.

This is nothing but the typical wasteful spending based on very shaky evidence and with no clear solutions on the table.

Meanwhile that big ball of fire in the sky keeps on doing what it was designed to do.

God will not let mankind cheat Him out of what He said He would do.

Heating of the other planets is proof that global warming, if there is any at all, is caused by our sun. They can study it till the cows come home, and the only result will be global taxation, to feed this new pseudo scientific monster, by the socialists. We couldn't control the temperature by a half a degree in a century.
