To date, ALL of the Democratic candidates are left-wing extremists, far out of touch with the average American. It would seem the Democrats didn't learn their lesson from 2000/2008. Unfortunately, due to frustration with the current administration, I fear the Democratic nominee (Obama?) may have a chance at winning. This is why I believe it will be important for us to unite behind the Republican candidate in 2008.

In 2004, I voted for the Constitution Party candidate.

Unless Giuliani is the Republican nominee, which I doubt, I will be voting Republican in 2008. My favorite is Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas, followed by Congressman Tom Tancredo.

But I predict John McCain will be the nominee.

    Thoughts?

If you're looking for one great candiate to get behind, take a look at Ron Paul. He is a straight shooter, tell it like it is, and votes with a conscience and not with a "party".

ALL the other candiates on either side other than Ron are only in it for themselves, the money, and the special interests. Ron has a great record in Congress. If you're serious about wanting a change, and wanting somone in the WH that will respect our values, then Ron Paul is your man.

I liked many things that Huckabee stated at the last debate as well as some of the things that Paul said. However, there is a long time to go and any Republican would have to win me over big time from preventing me voting for the Constitution Party.

I haven't really heard Paul mention his faith, his views on homosexuals and their rights, or the abortion issue. Since he seems to be for people's rights he could view these aforementioned issues differently than the average Christian.

Only time will tell. Paul seems to have similarities with Pat Buchanan; is this a good comparison?

I agree with AF guy. Unless the republican party nominates Paul, or say Toncredo, or a similar candidate, I will vote for the Constitution Party. There is no way I will vote for any democrat announced so far or McCain, Romney, or Giuliani.

To me, it is flawed thinking to compromise your principles to the point of voting for an abortionist to elect the less evil republican over the more evil democrat. I have thought that way all of my life, but no more. After wasting two votes on the present administration, I will not make that mistake again.

==While not extremists, the top Republican candidates are hardly any better. The Republican Party has become a party of big government and nation building (two things the founders of this nation opposed). That is not the Republican Party I use to know and it is certainly not a Republican Party I can support.

==They have no lesson to learn. Due to Bush's failed big government, nation building policies, the Democrats will be handed the '08 elections.

==Obama will not be the DNC nominee. The nominee will be Hillary Clinton, and the Republicans will probably go with John McCain. My prediction is that Hillary will win the presidency in '08.

==Why? Why unite behind someone who is a big government liberal with an "R" beside their name? Why repeat the mistakes of '00 and '04? Do we ever learn our lesson? I might vote for McCain, but I cannot rally behind him.

==Neither of those guys have a snowball's chance in a lit fireplace. Huckabee is just as bad as Bush. Both are big government, nation building, liberals. We need a president who will follow the "hard" advice of George Washington. Stay out of the affairs of other nations!

You won't find Ron Paul mentioning things to just "get votes" He's not that kind of guy. However, he is a Christian, and his views on abortion and homosexual acts are quite clear. Go to his site, or do a search from his name on this board. Just the other day someone had posted something from the Baptist press, but they left out Paul. I spent the time and compiled the same quetions/answers. Check it out, I think you will see the Ron Paul is a wise choice.

==I agree, it will be a disaster. But, then again, the last seven years have been a disaster as well. This is what happens when Republicans go liberal. Liberal policies, by George W Bush or Hillary Clinton, restrict freedoms, wastes resources, and hurts our nation.

    Martin, Martin, Martin :BangHead:

If God wants a President of the USA to get into the affairs of other nations, and I believe He does, then It is going to happen regardless of who gets the position.

This world IS going global, one world economy and eventually one world government and one world religion (its in the bible). You will not be able to pick a President who cannot avoid putting his nose into other nations business. Thank God that we are a nation who does at times answer God's call to liberate the oppressed. We should pray that we would do more "medling" into the affairs such as in Darfur.

Our military is for the defense of our country, not another country. I suggest that you start your own private army to do the tasks that you suggest.

I hope you're right, I know I will do all I can to see that the Democratic candidate is elected president.

BTW, I know this doesn't make me very popular around here, but I would rather tell the truth about how I feel rather than just say what others want to hear.

It is better to be honest, but sometimes, you are overly honest. :)

I am a Democrat by all rights, and some of the people on this board have boldly called me that "L" word, but I can't pull for any of the Democrats that are running. I liked John Edwards, but that was before Ron Paul got into the mix. Now, even though he is a Republican, or whatever title he is... I think he is the best person for the job.

I don't see Hillary doing much different than Bush. We don't need status quo anymore. We need a real change and I believ Dr Paul is just that ticket.

    Jamie,

Since you are in New Hampshire you can have a huge impact on Ron Paul's chances with your first in the nation primary.

Right now, we do not know who the Democrat candidate will be. Yes, there are two Democrat Senators running, but who knows what this next year will bring. I am leary of anybody who says I hope the _____ political party wins. I am more concerned about who the candidate is! At the moment, I have no ideal who I will support next year, but it will be based on his record, political platform, and standards. I doubt I will agree with every last item; so I will have to consider what items I think is most important. I trust all voters will do the same.

Very true, the US military is for the defense of our country. However, do you find it biblically wrong to use our military to help other countries in need?

I don't need to start a private army to help others outside of my comfortable four walls, Jesus already did that and has an army of Christian soldiers at work. Are you for working for all of God's people around the world or do you just want to stay safe and let others be someone elses problem or concern? Just wondering why some US Christians don't care about other nations. I believe Jesus cares about them.

It is noble to tell the truth  However, be sure to bring what you "feel" into line with Jesus' word. As ambassadors for Jesus Christ we must represent Jesus in our voting. Voting for any candidate that supports things such as murder or cults is an outright spit in the face of Christ. We all must give an account one day of the deeds while done in this body. Voting is a deed.

    God Bless!

Regardless of whom you or I like, can any say we've had a very good President, according to the Constitution, since at least 1960, which is the earliest I can really remember, aside from President Gerald Ford, who was never elected to the office, even, but functioned, for the most part, as the "Chief Executive", but did not (at least on the surface) attempt to remake the country in his own image of what she should be??

I see no candidates in any party or persuasion, that takes this stance, but that is what the Constitution says. He or she is the "Commander in Chief", of 'the military'; and has the power granted to make treaties; to "nominate and appoint" (with the advice and consent of the Senate), officers, judges, ambassadors, and the like; and to "recommend measures", but that is the effective Constitutional limit.

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.articleii.html

The Congress (now that should give everyone an extreme case of heartburn) is the one which is to determine the 'direction'.

And I have very little doubt that, in 2008, that "We, the People" will get to "chuse" our choice of the 'Evil of Lessers'. and will, as usual, get the finest 'pols' that "money can buy"!!

    Ed,
If we get a combination like Clinton vs McCain, or Clinton vs Giuliani, you might be surprised how well a third party would do next year. I could see a Paul-Toncredo ticket or a Thompson (Fred)-Toncredo ticket thrashing both of them in the electoral college.

    AMEN!!

Congress had the last say as to going into Baghdad and Congress has the authority to take us back out. So why does everyone complain that it is Bush's war and that it is Bush who will not withdraw?

If Congress does not like what is happening and Congress believes we are in a losing battle then they should defund the war and end it! Those in Congress railing against Bush have the power to override Bush but they show that they are not leaders but rather that they haven't got the stomach to make difficult decisions. They should defund and end the war or clam up and just follow a true leader who does have the courage to make those difficult and unpopular decisions.

    God Bless!
