When is he going to stop us advancing ourselves into oblivion? I just found out Honda is building these hyper-advnaced robots and they demostrated them doing Tai-Qi excercises---wont this make people think God is no longer necessary? Why dosent He do something about it? Or what can we do so that all those souls arn't uncessary lost?

the presenations are here, by the way

It would never occur to me that I didn't need God anymore because we have robots that can flail their metallic parts in Tai-Qi movements.

I believe God expects us to use the brains he gave us and continue to learn and grow.
What we use our gained knowledge for, and if we develop in a manner that is beneficial to us and does not cause irreversible harm to the creation he's given us to tend to is what is important.

As with all knowledge, "the more we know, the more we know that we don't know".

Men have always been smart. In fact, there is no telling but I suspect the people before Noah's Flood were smarter than we are now. They may have even been more technologically advanced! We'll not know until we ask the Lord, in person!

But yes, we are more technologically advanced than any other people we are aware of through history. But as that happens, we are also seeing that we simply cannot answer the questions that need to be answered. We have not improved people's health, for new bugs and diseases and mutations and problems arise faster than we can keep up. My sister-in-law almost died this past autumn due to a genetic mutation (porphyria) combined with a medication for a urinary tract infection which threw her into an acute stage -- and she was the first that hospital had EVER had of that problem and the only one in the entire state of South Australia with it now!

As our technology has increased we have, as you probably already know, seen exponential increases in the concept of violence for fun and entertainment -- from all sources. We scream and yell at terrorism and then sell our children video games and videos that not only glorify violence and death, but encourage both! We are stunned at the rise in diseases related to sexual activity, and then use sexual images to sell everything on the market!

What this is doing is developing a very stark line between morality and immorality. Between violence and peace. Between life and death. Between meaning and meaninglessness. The Bible tells us these end days will be like this. And I am convinced from what I have seen that these not only ARE the end days, but that this escalation of man's glorification of himself and his accomplishments is showing the kind of atrocious fruits that are actually causing many to look for other answers. And many of those are finally turning to Christ.

So let us stand quietly, calmly, and joyfully with Christ, showing His love and care in simple, human ways to a sick and hurting world. It is winding itself up to the antichrist and the technology he will use to intimidate the world now. But we can still be here as what is NOT that -- what is of the ancient paths and the truth that is in Jesus Christ. There are still some who will turn; some who will notice.

God is neither limited by, nor intimidated by man's inventions. It took us two thousand years to learn how to send a sattelite into the skies. God hung the stars and the entire universe in a day! In fact, in a twinkling of an eye probably. The "smarter" we get, the dumber we find out we have been and more than likely still are.

    You mean again?

Gen 11:6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Don't worry, we have regressed a great deal since then and have very little chance accomplishing enough to worry God. Even if we did, He is quite capable of arranging things to render our effort ineffective.

Nanotechnology (microscopic robots) both concern me and interest me at the same time. There seems to be significant hope that they will be able to fight cancer at its source.

One of Honda's Asimo robots is at Disneyland in their "Innoventions" pavilion. I checked it out and it is SOOOOOO cool!

I don't think that technological advancements are in any way an indicator of people believing they don't need God. People who feel they don't need God will do so regardless of whether they're on a deserted island or in a computer lab.

" Why is God letting us get so smart?"

I don't believe that man is so smart. We just like to take the advanced minds of the few and say "Look how smart we are." We can operate a car, but how many can explain the technology of the automobile. The robots can be operated, but we didn't do the actual inventing of it. I can use this computer, but I cry for help at the first glitch that comes along.

and no robots in the world even have a proper vision system. not even this asimo one. all its using is simple infrared, distance, voice recognition chip etc. which is learned in first year electronics common core. then the amount of motors is amazing for the amount of movement its got. only 26! but even that limits it. once the electronics industry gets booming even more, there'll be even more ways to make this thing smarter. i dont like the idea of it replacing peoples jobs... except for production lines.

"why is God letting us get so smart?" well... its our choice, if we didnt have a choice... we'd be like robots anyways...

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Daniel 12:4).

Knowledge is increasing but I sincerely doubt that men are "smarter" now than before... in fact, I suspect the opposite.

We have the accummulated knowledge of those who have gone before.

The real deficiency is wisdom... but men seldom see that is a priority.

It's just part of prophecy being fulfilled. To think that up until a hundred years or so we got around on horses, the spike in intelligence has increased dramatically.

Knowledge may be increasing because things today are built upon the previous genration's work.

Is some areas things are getting worse. The typical college student is not near as good of a writer as many years ago. However they must take more classes because of computer software.

Cetainly school boards all over America are putting much less into their vocational and technical programs. In fact industry discourages that as well because they want to train them their way.

Knowledge is given a boost by the speed of communication.

I disagree. Technological advancement doesn't equate to being "smaterer" or "more knowlegeabe". It is what it is: techonolgical advancement. If we were to take a person from 2000 years ago and brought them into today's time, they would eventually adapt to today's technology and eventually fit in like everyone else, proving that people of 2000 years ago are just as smart as people today.

I also call to question all the nhilism and execcentialism rising in our secualr cultures-and not the sort of diest-scince we expected a few era ago, why isnt science preaching that man is on a straightfoward path to becoming God? What happened to all the promises of eternal youth and immortality? why is science now only rationalizing a doctrine of iminent isolation and destruction?
