I used to enjoy it, but now, as far as my personal likes go when it comes to "secular" music, I prefer classical music.

Most of the early Motown singers got their start singing "Gospel" music in their churches. I wonder if it wasn't the worldly lure of "fame & fortune" that tended to come with Motown music was something that drew them away from singing "Gospel" music in their churches?

Some. I'm more a fan of the Chess, Stax and smaller labels.

I listen to a lot of Beach Music and there were dozens of small and regional labels that are often confused with Motown.

Motown is a breath of fresh air, in contrast to the mindless dribble that corporate media likes to pass off as music (Justin Beiber, Carly Jensen). As far as groups, bands or artists go, in this genre, I'd have to say the Temptations, Otis Redding, the Supremes, and Marvin Gaye, are in my "top favorites list." The Temptations had sweet-sultry vibes and great-harmonizing abilities. Otis Redding's brutal lyrics and sentimental ballads have been marked in my memory since I was a little girl. As for the Supremes and Marvin Gaye, those two need no introduction. When people think of Motown, Marvin and Dionne Warrick are two souls that come almost instantly, to one's mind (on the subject). Happy Listening!

I have always enjoyed Motown music. I enjoy the soulfulness of it. They all have such amazing voices. It is a pleasue to listen to. My favorites were The Temptations, The Supremes and Marvin Gaye. Of course there were many others that were outstanding as well. The music is pure and refreshing.

Okay, so my music tastes have changed over the years.

I'm not going to condemn anyone who prefers Motown over Mozart, because what does it really matter in the long run?

And, just so's y'all don't pick up bricks and toss 'em my way, the next time you hear "Stop! In the Name of Love" playing think of these words in your mind:

"He died to save your soul,
Why don't you trust in Him?
He lives to make you whole,
Why don't you trust in Him?

    "Think it over,
    Think it over.

"I know you think, living for Jesus, is not what you want,
But one day soon, He may come for you.
And you'll wish that you had.

    "Think it over,
    Think over.

    Shalom.

    Selah.

Motown? I don't know, but was he born in the same town as Larry and Curly?

As an aside, I used to eat lunch all the time at a restaurant called Jon's when I lived in Philadelphia. It was in the house where Larry Fine was born and lived until his late teens.

As an aside to an aside: there were nine stooges all together up to the year 1974. I am not just speaking of film roles. Frank Mitchell replaced a dying Moe as the head stooge in a nighclub act.
