I would highly recommend this message by Dr. Chuck Phelps on The Christian and Alcohol.

Dr. Phelps is the President of Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI.

We thank the Lord for a man who is willing to be dogmatic about this issue when most of our schools are unwilling to do so. Many of the professed Young Fundamentalists are coming out of our Baptist Bible Colleges with a drink in moderation position.

I would encourage forwarding the link to others.

You can also link to it through my blog.

Whatever Truth you cease fighting for is a Truth you have surrendered (Jude 1:3).

I'm not sure that the fighting being talked about is for or against anything, just among BB posters. We've beaten this horse to death many times already. You might want to check the archives.

    Downloading the message now.

Thank God for men who will preach the truth. Alcohol in any amount is a deceiver. We are not to allow ourselves to be deceived. But we are deceived from the first notion that alcohol is ok in moderation.

And thank God for men who continue to stand on truth. Alcohol is a deceiver.

Boy, it was getting pretty dry in here too! It's been atleast a few weeks since we had one of these.

I'll get the popcorn and ice (for when there are injuries of course - I'm watching with a Coke at my desk ;) )

Ridicule is the methodology of the scorner!

One of Satan's tools is to saturate in order to opiate.

God commands obedience, but He appeals to sinners to hear Him.

Truth is not intended for debate. Truth is intended to be proclamed.

What you do with Truth is totally up to you.

"Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men . . ." (II Cor. 5:11)

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith” (Galatians 6:7-10).

    Amen, Brother Ketchum!

I listened to the message. Brother Chuck did his homework.

It is sad that many mock and jest the clear commands in God's Holy Word.

Oh goody, another alcohol thread. Have you ever noticed the full moon and the Pharisees appear at the same time?

For those who abstain from alcohol like I do, I hope it is because that is the way the Holy Spirit is convicting and leading your life, and not the ridiculous and ad nauseum posts in threads like this.
