The troops have spoken financially and it appears they are ready to come home.

    Your Article is PURE Spin

I was drawn to your article, because it sounded as if those in the military were giving tons of cash to Obama. Than I looked at your box of numbers, as I list here:
    Recipient Total Number
    Obama, Barack $60,642 134
    Paul, Ron $45,512 99
    McCain, John $10,665 26
    Huckabee, Mike $7,950 10
    Thompson, Fred $6,350 7
    Romney, Mitt $5,550 10
    Clinton, Hillary $3,240 6

134 donors @ $60,642 does not constitute a "strong voice". We have more than 200,000 service men and women over there, and 134 is hardly a blip on the radar screen of donations.

Your article makes it sounds as though military folks are "flocking" to Obama. All I see in the numbers above is a select few giving to any of the folks running for office.

Good try, but, it doesn't fly, because 134 is not the majority of 200,000. Call me back when the donors reach 150,000 men and women.

    Shalom,

Not to mention: 134 is the number of deployed troops. The chart at the bottom of the article talks about the total number of military that have donated; for Obama, it's still only 859.

And by the way: 200,000 is not the total number of military. If I recall correctly, there's over 330,000 in the Air Force alone; that's like .26% of just the Air Force members, and doesn't include Navy, Marines, Army or Coast Guard.

Lets see about 150,000 troops in Iraq. 134 want to come home thats one for every 1,119 troops.
    Not exactly a major voice.

    How about these numbers:
1,000 troops to re-up in Iraq

In 2007: During the ceremony, 588 troops reenlisted and 161 were naturalized as American citizens.

Found this from the First Cav:
Barron, whose Jan. 17 reenlistment marked the 150th reenlistment for the 1st Brigade Combat Team during this rotation, re-upped for six more years.

If I'm not mistaken, this does not include senior NCO, because they no longer need to re-up

Any active duty type out there who can confirm this?

They were told they had to re-up or they would be discharged in Iraq and have to find their own way home.

Naw, each enlistment is like a contract so each person must extend their enlistment before the end of their current one. This applies to all enlisted personal.

When you make humorous statements, you should follow them with a laughing smiley face. Because I'm liable to take that statement seriously, and then tell you: That's an absolute lie.

For whatever reason, at least in the Air Force, senior enlisted still have to do 4 or 6-year enlistments.
