Any others here checking out this new bible version, and read the book of Ephesians link?

Looks good, reads just like the NKJV!

It has not yet been released. On what do you base your objection?

    Proverbs 18:13
He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.

Interesting. And it's a version of the KJV? Cool. :)

I'll stick with the versions I have. But it might be fun to compare them to this version sometime when it's available.

That said, I was (and still am) under the impression that versions like the NKJV, ESV, NASB, NIV, etc are up-to-date enough.

Every version needs to be updated, if not thoroughly revised. The NKJV is badly in need of revision. The ESV needs to be revamped because the very slight dusting off has not been nearly enough of a true effort.

English is continually evolving as a language.

Words that meant something 500 years ago might have changed 180 degrees by now.

When preaching, I have two choices. Use a 500 year old English translation and spend 1/3 of the sermon updating and expanding on the words, defining them and illustrating them in 2013 English OR use a more recent English translation so that these updates are written and spend 100% of the sermon actually preaching the Word.

The problem is to find a recent English translation that is faithful to the original Greek and not translated with an "agenda" that is actually negative.

Just curious, any MV in mind that had their Agenda in the translation process?

would say there some on the transaltion team were graduates of places like oral Roberts and other Charasmatic places, and that would give me pause!

Hopefully, there will not be some of the "Charasmatic chaos" creeping into this new version!
