    Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes.
Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:
    1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

    2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

    3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

    4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

    5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

    6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

    7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

    8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

    9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

    10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

    11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

    12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

    13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

    14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

What does all that cow dung have to do with us or the US.

The only thing that was recognizable was #7 and that passed with the Clinton era. At least as far as the Government is concerned.

Sorry! I missed one. The democrats did try to steal the election in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004!

Mussolini's definition is closer and is only one word. Coporatism. When business and government are combined. That's exactly what we have here and with the public private parnterships were begining to see a bit of communism and alot of fuedalism too. Thanks to the United Nations and WEFORUM.

Actually, in this day and age business has taken over the government. The "free trade" treaties should be evidence enough to prove that. How many here have spent more than an hoour reading UN and WEFORUM treaties and agreements side by side with the U.S. constitution please raise you're hand.

    Hmmm...

Those 14 points also look like a pretty good description of The FDR years. And the Kennedy years. And the Johnson years.

None of them are 100 % and neither is the current administration.

It's a wartime Republican Administration just as FDR's was a wartime Democrat Administration.

Their interpretations of Presidential powers and responsibilities appear to be very close.

I meant which philosophies do you see at work in this administration? I say philosophies because I think there is a mixture of several, I'm curious to see how close our notes are on this.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

You know I'm kind of a meat and potatoes guy, not given to philosophy so much.

But, this I can tell you, this Dr. Britt just seems to be going out of his way to make a tie between Bush and Hitler. It's just the other side to the same coin liberals have been tossing around for a long time.

I find it useful to remember that 10-12 of those points apply to almost any administration, even peacetime ones.

I know that's probably not answering your question, but...

No, I agree. I'm not much of a professor of philosophy myself, but a few things do seem to stand out. Business and government is definately intertwined so much so that I think business has the upperhand and calls the shots. The media for all intents and purposes is just the echo chamber for globalism. Globalism, from what I can tell is a mixture of socialism, communism, fascism or corporatism, fuedalism and just blind greed.

My notes tell me this administration is carrying on where Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton (both globalists) left off.

That's kind of confusing, let me whittle that down some. Globalism is a mixture of communism, capitalism, corporatism. That's better.

So is America fascist? Yeah, partly.

    Anbody agree? Disagree? Perplexed? [IMG]

Globalism is a religion that is in place to ultimately unite the world for a war against "The Lamb". It puts aside patriotism, nationalism, race, cultures and most of all, it redistributes the wealth, in order to pursue that quest.

I believe George the senior and President Clinton were firmly for globalization. I believe GWB is not. I further believe that very few, if any of these globalists know the true plan.

Communism + Capitalism = Globalism to be concise. But you are correct imo Hillclimber all the policies have been written and most have been implimented covertly and overtly. New Orleans is their laboratory and public private partnerships is their vehicle to replace constitutional government with regional government.

Has anyone figured out who the big honcho head globalist extraordinaire is yet? And no it isn't George W. or even Jeb or Hillary or Bill not even Poppy Bush could hope to wear that crown.

I see that blank up there OR. No shame in being perplexed, look at me I'm perplexed most all the time but I'm figuring it out. :D

    In reply to Hillclimber,

I was trying to point out that America is being taken over by a foreign power. It isn't hard to figure out Hillclimber elsewise I would never have been able to do it.

Look at all the UN and WEFORUN policies that our congress has adopted. Here's some examples. Sustainable development. Agenda 21. Biodiversity treaty. NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA, UN charter, UN Earth Charter, US MAB, public private parnerships, etc and so on.

    Source of quotes

Old Regular, this whole process of "globalizing" the United States under UN and WEFORUM, sustainablility and what not is perplexing especially when one starts digging into how it's being accomplised. The republicans and democrats are on the same page implimenting this anti God, un-American, anti constitution garbage. If it offends you that I love my country more than George Bush or a political party then so be it. If it offends you that I am not lost in the infinate details of the false paradigm of left vs right then so be that. These guys are like magicians using sleight of hand to achieve their goal of one world government, your hero George Bush is part of it, the democrats heros are part of it. I'm sorry that you refuse to believe the endless amount of evidence that points to our government being traitors and working for the crowns of Europe, if that offends you also, then so be it. I'll not make any excuse for being an American patriot and pointing out the traitors and tyranny to people that won't even take the time to look at the evidence and put two and two together. If what I say offends you then either learn to live with it or get your blinded majority together and have me banned.

Hillclimber, if one looks far enough into all this mess, and I believe every American citizen should, it looks as though Americans are now the subjects of the European crowns. Prine Charles has been the one person driving it along. So, we fought the revolution to win our indepedence from the British empire with guns and blood, but now they've brought us back under their authority through the UN and WEFORUM. We are no longer a sovereign nation. All this was done with complicity of our congress both parties.

Even the U.S. conference of mayors has adopted the UN Earth Charter with a promise to promote it and use it in their daily work.

So, while we're all argueing about democrats and republicans we've been quietly taken over by a foreign power. Basically by the European royalty.

I see your point Poncho, and to the extent that it is all aimed at reducing the US to near a global average power, I agree. The worlds economy and military might cannot be centralized in Europe or the middle east until we are neutralized. It cannot be stopped, just impeded.

And it is not European royalty, though they may think that, but principalities and powers.

Neutralized, now there's a word. Are you comfortable with the idea of America being neutralized? How about your family children and friends, are you comfortatble with the idea of them being neutralized also? Are you telling me that you are willing to just sit there and not do anything about it while you still may have a chance to do something about it?

Our whole system of government in these United States was designed to do just that...something about it. The players are identifiable, the policies are identifiable, the global (earthly) entities that are pushing it are identifiable, the politicians in Washington that are helping to push it are identifiable but yet there is nothing we can do about it?

What kind of attitude is that? Sounds defeatist to me, is that what America is all about now??? The land of the scared and home of the defeatists? I thought only liberals were defeatists Hillclimber, aren't you one those that deride them for that attribute? I don't understand this kind of thinking at all.

Doesn't it upset you that these people are systematically destroying our republic and the freedom that goes along with it? Don't you want your children to have a bill of rights that protects them from government tyranny? I believe God gave us this great country and people like our founders to set up a small island of liberty on this earth to show the tyrants and usurpers and even the people in this world that it can be done, that it has been done, and it can be done again.

I find it strange that when the elite loosed their radical liberalism on America, Christians were quick to identify the dangers of it and speak out, but now that they've introduced another kind of evil on the country Christians actually embrace it or are just to busy harping about liberals to even notice the greater danger right in front of their noses.

Maybe you are right Hillclimber, maybe this country and our posterity isn't worth the effort it might take to actually try and save it and them.

Let them keep the borders open and balkanize us, broken up into warring factions killing each other "for the cause", (doesn't matter which cause pick one leftist cause rightist cause "just be cause" whatever they're all false fabrications of the elite to balkanize us and keep us divided and powerless anyway) like they have done and are doing in so many other countires like Iraq and Haiti. It's all ok with us Christians because there is nothing we can do about it. Except for complaining about liberals, we can do that we've had 50 years of practicing and conditioning to do that, yeah we're experts at that, so go ahead you globalists, do what you want while we're totally distracted by another one of your deceptions. Hey, after all there's nothing we can do about it.
