    Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

    What is your understanding of what this verse means to be "partakers of the divine nature"?

    part of John 3:6&7 and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, ( having the spirit of adoption ) and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. verse 9
    Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

    BTW that last verse does not say anything about practicing it says cannot.

    Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

    Being cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, the Sprit coming in and taking up His abode in us, and that He will lead us into all truths. IOW, being partakers of the divine nature is being saved, and placed in Christ, making us heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.

    Holiness and all its attributes. Not just in calling but in experience. Through the promises of God we have been given the ability to take part in what and who God is if we will apply those things to our lives. That is why Peter then goes on to tell us how to live out being partakers.
    And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
    And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
    And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
    For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    In a nutshell and in context of the entire very long sentence, it means that we (Christians only) are given the tools through Christ to live holy lives and to escape sin's yoke.

    Christ inus, the hope of glory...

    Its the fact that once saved by grace of God, the Holy Spirit comes to live/dwell in us...

    So each of us have God living in and through us!

    We though NEVER partake in sense that we become God, nor that we become another Jesus!

    say that, as WoF teachers have stated that due to us partaking of God, that we are all JUST as mauch an incarnation of God as jesus was!

    I was wondering if anyone contributed this to the teaching of the Christian getting a new divine nature as opposed to the old sinful nature.
