I do not, yet, believe impeachment is in order.

OTOH, I did not believe impeachment of Clinton was in order.

It's interesting that one of the favorite news sources of the Right published that story without knocking it. [IMG]

It's a bit early to say how serious the violations were. We should find out, however.

The standard for impeachment is high crimes and misdemeanors. Democrats who are eager to remove Bush might remember what happened to a number of GOP congressmen who were eager to impeach Clinton over something Americans clearly did not consider an impeachable offense.

Fifty-two percent in favor of impeachment shows that there remains considerable resistance to the idea.

Clinton committed a felony and resistance was great; how much stronger in a questionable situation?

The results of the poll listed in the OP were rigged. Ref: http://www.democrats.com/bush-impeachment-poll-2

By a margin of 52% to 43%, Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he wiretapped American citizens without a judge's approval, according to a new poll commissioned by AfterDowningStreet.org, a grassroots coalition that supports a Congressional investigation of President Bush's decision to invade Iraq in 2003.

The poll was conducted by Zogby International, the highly-regarded non-partisan polling company. The poll interviewed 1,216 U.S. adults from January 9-12.

The poll found that 52% agreed with the statement:
"If President Bush wiretapped American citizens without the approval of a judge, do you agree or disagree that Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment."

No mention that the so-called American citizens were talking to terrorists?????. Makes one a little suspicious doesn't it?

Why are you conducting a verbal JIHAD against President Bush? Have you had an "out of body" experience recently?

    OR,

I want President Bush to keep his hands off of our constitutional rights.

If you notice I have also posted positive items about President Bush that I agree with.

Bush and his culture have damaged this great nation but its not too late to rebound, I think the faster he is out of there the faster we can
unite on consensus issues...bush is all about delivering for his cronies and still we wonder
how many times he met with Abramoff...again and again I say if bush does not reach out to his Dad and also capture or kill Osama Bin Laden he will be the worst 8 year President in our history. imho

Look at bush and his early years and you will understand the baby christian and his battles and why he loses them.

Guess it goes to show that polls are a pretty poor method of running a country. The Dems who are most vehement about spying are opposed to wiretapping because they're afraid they'll be found out to be traitors to America, if not terrorists in their own right.

If I knew someone whose Constitutional rights had been violated I would be concerned.

What people think matters not a whit. What the law states does. THis president didn't break any law. It is going to soon come out that the clinton administration did in fact break these very laws, using them against our citizens.

I am playing the Devils Advocate;I recall during "The Big One" WW II That there was a V-Mail received from GI's overseas that had words and sentences simply cut out of the letters. Also families devised code words to communicate. Is this different then wire taps?
