I am not finished with my third time through the NT in this study, so I will doubtless find more verses. I will add them as I find them. Also note that these are only NT references. Perhaps I will have a list of OT references in a few years [IMG]

Whetstone, It does not matter if you produced 1 million verses, that you think supports your heretical beliefs, it proves nothing.

Calvinistc teaching of "Election" - NOT BIBLICAL

Calvinistic teaching of "Total Depravity" - NOT BIBLICAL

Calvinistic teaching of "Limited Atonement" - NOT BIBLICAL

Calvinistic teaching of "Irresistable Grace" - NOT BIBLICAL

Calvinistic teaching of "Fore-ordination/Fore-knowledge" - NOT BIBLICAL

When what you believe is not supported from Scripture, regardless of you producing your "proof texts" which have been twisted to support your nonsense, then it cannot be called "Orthodox", and is seen as "Heretical". I for one would rather believe what Scripture clearly teaches, than the unbiblical "system" of some very deceived men!

    Shameful...

As for the OP...I wonder if those are 629 pretext verses taken out of context? What is your motive here? I gave the options but thought it best to just ask the question. [IMG]

Why not study them all? Icthus claims this is all unbiblical, but every time he tries to show that, he falls flat on his face. So far, he has yet to be able to refute one of the key issues in the debate, much less all five of them.

But if you want to know if these verses are out of context, study them, and post your conclusions. Who knows ... it could be a good discussion.

You're right Larry. It could be a good discussion...provided each side refrains from the typical "hell-bound heretic" rhetoric that flies around here crazier than a baseball at Coors field.

I have a request Larry. Could you stick this thread...or at least the OP for future reference? I think it would be a good thing to do.

I fully agree except "...Foreknowledge" Not Biblical. God certainly knows all. Open theism is a horrible doctrine. But I am sure what you meant was a foreknowledge that God (supposedly)chooses this one to be saved, this one to be lost, there I agree with your opposition to that.
That is quite a list by the OP, but surely brethren you know, that an equally imposing list could be made in counterpoint. I regret that I do not have a Bible here at work to quote from it, but it seems to me that there are passages that make Calvinism (a doctrine even John Calvin refuted late in life) impossible.

If larry pins this thread, I hereby challenge any non-Calvinist to read EVERY verse on my list and reply that they are still not a Calvinist. Feel free to look at context. That's how I found the verses- by reading them in context. This list is not a compilation list- it is my OWN study into the matter based on nearly 3 complete readings of the NT and lots of notations in my own Bible. I don't need the writings of other men to see that the doctrines of grace are one of the most clearly spelled out set of doctrines in scripture. For Calvinists- I recommend making a study of these verses as well and watch your faith and reliance on God grow!

My friend if there is such a myriad of verses supposedly 'making Calvinism impossible' are you not obligated to reconcile them just as much as I am?

I offer this challenge to all non-Calvinists:

Please produce a list of verses that make Calvinism impossible. I'd be very interested in reading it.

Will do. [IMG] But...if I see that Calvinism is true then how will I know that God loves me? How can I prevent myself from becoming one of those "arrogant" and cold Calvinists?

Your first step is to realize that you cannot overcome your own weakness alone. If you bask in the love of God- He will help you overcome a cold attitude. Overall, the best way to stay strong in the love of God is to stay in the word.

I must make an edit but i can't edit my post. Under 'Irresistable Grace' the reference should be Colossians 1:12, not Philippians 1:12. Sorry for the error.

    Whetstone,
Starting with just your first posted scripture, I believe you do not understand truth!

I agree that Matt 13:1-17 eludes to an Elect, but do not agree with you about who that Elect may be.
Who are the ELECT in Matthew 13:1-17? The Apostles, (KEY PLAYERS IN GOD's PLAN). The supporting evidence?

So let me see if I understand you correctly: The apostles had a key role in God's plan but you and I don't? Is that correct?

Do you Calvinists think that I have got nothing better to do than to get drawn in to this unbiblical nonsense. Lets deal with the REAL issues that show Calvinism to be heresy. Whether you admit it or not, as I have said a number of times already, your docrtine that God ordains all things that come to pass, and that they are all in His will, including our sinful actions, then you cannot escape the fact, like it or not, that you make God the author of sin. Argue all you like against this, but, if you guys understood the English language, you would at once understand, that to "ordain" anything is the same as "making someone do it".

Further, Whetstone, and those like Larry who will agree with this complete nonsense, I suggest that you take up the study of English, and then you won't make complete fools of yourselves, by making "Foreknowledge", equal to "foreordaining". Even in the Greek there are different words, with different meanings.

By listing 1000 texts proves nothing, all it shows is that what you believe in is what you hope Scripture teaches. Even your own "founder", John Calvin, as I have shown, did not accept the heresy of Limited Atonement. And, at least Robert Dabney was honest enough to admit, unlike you guys who twist the Word of God, that passages like John 3:16 and 1 John 2:2, DO NOT support Limited Atonement.

Try to show the Truth as taught in Scripture, and not distort the Bible to support your heresies.
