I believe you are correct, the steel doesn't need to melt, it only needs to be weakened, and as steel gets hot it looses its tinsel strength. At some point, long before it melts it will lose it's ability to support a structure.

Here's five that were on fire for long periods of time http://911research.wtc7.net/wtc/analysis/compare/fires.html, why didn't they collapse at the rate of gravity on their own footprints?

No? I will though. It's just that some of the other books I'm reading were more interesting, but now that I have finished them I will give this one more attention.

How much weight was put upon the weakened steel?

Just because steel that has been subjected to fire doesn't fail in one instance doesn't mean it will withstand collapse in all situations.

It would appear that some have gone to the Bill O'Reilly school of message boarding.

That's partially what I was asking. It takes a lot of manpower, etc., and a lot of people would have noticed something like that.

But, more to what I was getting at is that when they bring a building such as that down, they bring it down like a pancake, and it comes down with gravity. They simply remove the structural integrity, such as would happen with jet fuel.

I can't remember the name of the type of construction that it is, but the walls themselves were key in load bearing. The WTC was like a couple of hollow tubes with the walls for support. Remove either element, and there's a problem.

The towers were designed in such a way that they could hold several planes. But, when the planes hit and damaged the structural inegrity through removing some of the walls, and the jet fuel weakened the structural integrity of the steel (didn't have to melt it), when the chain reaction started, it went at the speed of gravity.

As is typical of conspiracy theorists, you need to quit comparing apples to apricots.

Have you ever compared a B-25 to a 757? (An no, it was not a B-52 that hit it; they weren't around for a long time after that incident. Another telltale sign of a conspiracy theorist; wildly incoherent "facts".)

A B-52 weighs about 20,000 pounds. It also does not use jet fuel.

A 757, OTOH, carries about 11,500 gallons of jet fuel. A gallon of gas, which will be very close in weight to jet fuel, weighs 6 pounds. That's 69,000 pounds of fuel! The fuel weighed 3.5 times as much as the entire B-25.

Add to that that the cargo capacity for a 757 is 87,700 pounds. More than four times the entire weight of a B-25!

The maximum takeoff weight for a 757 is 272,500 pounds, depending upon the engine configuration. The size of 13.6 B-25 bombers.

    Big difference.

    That's a lot of JP-5.

If you notice, it didn't. It didn't fall sideways, which is why it was designed the way it was, but it did take out the Marriott, and cause considerable damage to 2 other Trade Center buildings, and destroyed a church.

When the conversation gets to the inane idea that cell phones

I have already apologized for my typo. I will apologize again if you would like.

B-52s. weigh about 300,000-500,000 lbs depending on the model and they certainly do use jet fuel. I'm confused as to why you would berate me about the B-52 and then go back to talking about it so let's get back to the building that was not hit by a jet.

Excuse me, lot's of dyslexia going on here.

A B-25 hit the Empire State Building
not a B-52. A B-52 could probably carry as much
a payload (bombs, you know) as the B-25 weighs.

That is 27 more B's. That might have knocked it over.

Actually, a B-52 has a weapons payload equal to 3.5 B-25's. Its fuel capacity, however, is stratospheric. It can hold 181,000 liters of fuel. It has a takeoff weight of 488,000 pounds.

B-52s are responsible for the destruction of several radios, in my lifetime. I cannot abide such awfulness as "Rock Lobster", "Planet Claire", or "Loveshack".

    Ugh.

Yeah, but isn't it a little weird that the building fell in on itself? It didn't fall over, but rather, it fell in on itself. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I have yet to see anyone give a reasonable explanation for that fact. Just thinking aloud.

    Regards, hope all is well,
    BiR

If you find one you might let FEMA know...it would seem they only have a theory themselves.
