Our infrastructure is crumbling. It is amazing in the Minneapolis bridge, that here is a major interstate bridge that is right downtown...not out in the boondocks...that obviously must have been being inspected.

My pastor has always had what I deemed an inappropriate and unrealistic fear of bridges for which I ruthlessly mocked him... he called me yesterday to rub it in...

He will really be fearful when I send him this link... the whole thing is amazing

I can't believe so many people actually survived though...

After Bush gives all the Near East oil to the Saudis it won't matter because we will all be peddling bicycles or mopeds.

Is it even near correct to say that our infastructure is crumbling?

He called you to rub it in?

mmmmm I'm hoping you two are VERY close :saint:

I am very thankful so many survived. It could have been a much greater catastrophe.

This bridge was just inspected in 2006.

I heard on the news today that perhaps bridges should be inspected annually. WELL when was 2006?

It may be that the standard for what would pass inspection may be based not only on the current risk associated with the current conditions of the bridge but also the amount of money needed to repair a bridge in need. The inspection caould be set for any number of years and it coincidentally fell on the previous year.

why not bring the national guard home, and as part of their training...they could do bridge construction?

...or is it a lousy idea?

I'm sure they will want to keep this in the open market.

I'm gonna guess this bridge was built & maintained by highly paid union employees.
