Sure they can and do, they make God promises they do not keep, that is lying to God.

Nope! God can only be flattered, not deceived by the flattery or the flatterer.

Nope! You must needs have your detector adjusted.

Glad to see the NIV translators "caved in" to the demands of pure theology.

    "Pure theology?"
There is no such thing, apart from the declarations of Scripture, at least IMO! :jesus:

(Sorry, robycop3, I just had to comment on this one, and unfortunately ruin my Jude 25 string.)

I think Roby is trying to be the new Noah Webster for the modern generation of Americans. There is no new Samuel Johnson on the British side, brother David uses standard British spelling.

You'd like to think that, so tell us, when is the study of the Divine not pure? If it goes contrary to doctrine, it must be impure.I mean, if one thinks that God had to come through Christ they must have an impure rendering of Jude 25:D

And now, back to our regularly scheduled program...

Various Benedictions of the Early Church Fathers compared to Jude 24,25

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,
to the only God our Savior,
    through Jesus Christ our Lord,
be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever.
    Amen.

    Jude 24-25 NASB95

As this broken bread was once scattered on the mountains, and after it had been brought together became one, so may thy Church be gathered together from the ends of the earth unto thy kingdom; for thine is the glory, and the power,
    through Jesus Christ,
    for ever.
    Didache 9:4 (50-120 C.E.)

Now unto Him that is able to bring us all by His grace and bounty unto His eternal kingdom,
through His only-begotten Son Jesus Christ,
be glory, honor, power, and greatness for ever.
    Martyrdom of Polycarp 20:2 (50-160 C.E.)

O Thou, who alone art able to do these things and things far more exceeding good than these for us, we praise Thee through the High priest and Guardian of our souls,
Jesus Christ, through whom be the glory and the majesty unto Thee
both now and for all generations and for ever and ever.
    Amen.
    1 Clement 61:3 (80-140 C.E.)

Finally may the All seeing God and Master of spirits and Lord of all flesh, who chose the Lord Jesus Christ, and us through Him for a peculiar people, grant unto every soul that is called after His excellent and holy Name faith, fear, peace, patience, long-suffering, temperance, chastity and soberness, that they may be well pleasing unto His Name
through our High priest and Guardian Jesus Christ,
through whom unto Him be glory and majesty, might and honor,
both now and for ever and ever.
    Amen.
    1 Clement 64:1

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you and with all men in all places who have been called by God and
    through Him,
through whom be glory and honor, power and greatness and eternal dominion, unto Him,
from the ages past and forever and ever.
    Amen.
    1 Clement 65:2

Gents, it appears we simply have a difference in manuscripts. It appears the AV men used mss that didn't have"through our Lord Jesus Christ" in Jude 25, but DID have 'sophos'.(wise)

This loox similar to the differences between Matthew and Luke in the "Lord's Prayer", where Matthew has a longer version, including a doxology. Yet, both "Gospels" have long-been accepted as Scripture.

That's why I don't believe we are limited to any one 'family' of Scriptural mss as the "official" word of God. I believe ALL these mss are part of the "body of Scripture" God has made available to us. I see nothing incorrect about EITHER reading of Jude 25, & I don't think anyone can prove one right or the other wrong.

Again, thanx to all who've contributed to this discussion so far.
