Wasn't that what someone proposed as a response threat?

It may be "ludicrous" to you... but I bet it would be one of the few things that would really get the terrorists' attention. If they cared anything for "innocent people" we wouldn't be having the problems we are with them. It seems very consistent with what they preach that they would fear the destruction of holy sites more than the loss of life... even their own.

 

IF you are saying that the US government is covering up such things - I think that conspiracy theory is bunk.

If you are saying - This is a real threat -
I assume if the goverment put out this - they are concerned about such a thing happening "some day".

These types of attacks have been a problematic possibility since the Cold War. They are part of the reason for fail safe missions with bombers and subs.

Unlike the Russians, we now face an enemy with a low regard for the lives of innocent people. Only threats that are meaningful to them are useful.

 

BTW, the government does cover things up and keep secrets... it is just a matter of how dark you think it is and what you think the motives are.

Government seems to be more open since the end of the Cold War... but that may mean that they have just gotten more sophistocated.

 

I have a question for you folks - where is the line between "paranoid" and "helpful?"

Before I discovered this board I used to go to another chat-site that said it was for Christians. To get there you followed links from a list that listed other world religions. In other words you hit "Christians" for us, and "Buddhist" or "Muslim" or whatever for whatever else.

Every once in awhile, in the Christian board, this person would pop up on line and make the most absurd posts. For instance - if the thread was about John 3:16 and how to apply it to your life, you would suddenly see something from this guy that said things like, "I called my lawyer today, and he told me to have you deliver the letter to my sister at 195 Donnor Ave."

That "worried" me for a few days.
Then one day the post said, "The local police have actually started using tanks. They are from ..." and it named a base. It talked about "bottle rockets" for someone's party, and gave a name, then it had some other stuff in it like phone numbers to call, and addresses to at a cousin's house. On the surface it looked like a friendly letter to someone, but a weird friendly letter that had nothing to do with the thread.

I got paranoid and back-referenced the phone number. It came up at a bank in Washington DC, that was the same address as the "cousin's house" in another paragraph of the post.

I went to that bank's web site and flicked through some links and discovered that the relative mentioned had the same name as the bank President.

So I contacted the bank and sent them the posts. I got back a letter that made me feel foolish for taking the trouble. One of those, "Thanks so much for your concern, but no reason to worry that someone would rob our bank."

So - now I feel stupid, and I seriously doubt I would report anything similiar.

Scott, I think you are right to some extent. But now we have the Internet and can actually read newspapers from other countries on line and have a wealth of communication and information at the click of a mouse. Back during the Cold War, the sheeple only had the Big 3 networks, also - no cable news.

A lot of people discredit conspiracy theories or because something sounds so outrageous, it is chalked up to being a conspiracy theory.

But my Bible says there has been a "conspiracy" since the beginning, and it started in the Garden of Eden. Jesus said even the "elect" would be deceived. Praise God, we know how it all ends!

 

I agree that Satan has a conspiracy.

I also agree that the internet has some good info and can serve as a check against the bad guys... it can also be a source of non-sense or even worse disinformation.

He wasn't installed by any court. Not sure what you are talking about here, nor how that relates to silly conspiracy theories.

This doesn't make any sense at all.

 

This verse has nothing to do with this kind of fear, nor with the common sense necessary for national security. We shouldn't misuse Scripture to support conspiracy theories.
