Am I right in thinking that you are saying I was hateful and insulting of American people because of their nationality? That's quite a charge Bill. Since when does criticism of a sport, or an opinion of a sport equate with insulting a nationality? Its not like I advocated the burning of the American flag or something. I happen to like your country and your countrymen - I have visited the USA several times, and intend to do so this year, Lord willing.

Still, I am sorry if you feel insulted, maybe you are just upset that your favourite sport should be put under the spotlight by an "effeminate European". The BBC article in the OP is "tongue in cheek". Some of you fellows on the other side of the Atlantic need to get a sense of humour.

Oh don't feel to bad .I had my little rant and that was enough.I guess I was more bothered that you did'nt even bother to come up with your own insult.

When it comes to Scottish football I am for Rangers. [IMG] I always support teams that play in blue - don't know why, must be a psychological thing.

Good on ya! Brother Ulsterman is a dear, dear friend, but I can't account for his taste in SPL football. ;)

</font>[/QUOTE]My friends from Glasgow tell me that the rivalry between Celtic and the Rangers is heavily tied to RC and Protestant sectarian disputes. When my wife and eldest daughter were there on a mission trip last summer the high school kids that they worked with told them the same. They said if you wear the colors of one team it indicates that you are Catholic and if you wear the other team's colors it signifies that you are a Protestant. This "gang" mentality leads to brawls in the streets of Glasgow (well at least in Sight Hill).

I am aware of the whole Gers-Celtic culture BB. The mentality is not limited to Glasgow but Belfast.

My comment was a "dig" at my dear brother and fellow Chelsea supporter ;) .

I wear my Celtic colours with pride [IMG] .

Roger, there was no need to muddy the waters of wholesome dialogue with hard facts! Still, at least Rangers have done better in Europe.

Ulsterman... keeps admitting to support Chelski... [IMG]

I have to admit enjoying American Football and original football. They both have their merits.

    Liverpool and Dallas for me.

What can I say? I had a troubled child hood. [IMG]

Actually, my dad always supported the Steelers so I think I initially supported Dallas just to be contrary. [IMG]
