I'll answer. I don't watch sports on TV. But when I'm present at ANY event when the flag is honored and the national anthem is played, I stand, take off my hat if I have one on, and sing along. That's the way I was raised, and I see no reason to stop doing it just because others don't. My question to you and others is, why is that suddenly considered ultra-Republican or Super-duper religious righted?

Right-wing Republicans have laid claim to patriotism and Christianity in these United States. They use this to bash their political opponents for electoral purposes.

I think that it is a shameful misuse of the both Christianity and the flag for right-wing Republicans to do this for crass political purposes.

That has nothing to do with patriotism. That is a basic fact in these United States. :)

I find it hard to believe that many people, republican or democrat, stand during a ballgame while watching it in their house, but you say you do and I take you at your word.

My point is, it is not important whether or not a person stands, sits, sings or any other thing during the playing of our national anthem, if the reason is to get attention or votes during an election. I am more concerned how a person will govern than I am how they perform during a ceremony.

I also think this issue was brought up to disparage a man who is running for president of the United States because he is a democrat.

The article says "Sourced say" and "The source said". All unattributed, and this is smear and spin.

Believe what you want. Since it was me that brought it to the board, I can tell you that I bear no ill feelings toward Mr. Obama. I don't care if he's democrat, republican, muslim, Christian, or if he likes corn flakes for breakfast. My vote will go to someone else, most likely, and it will have nothing to do with whether or not he knows how to handle himself during the national anthem.

    Fair enough.

I doubt that anyone will be casting a vote of Obama, as I don't think he will win the nomination. I wouldn't mind if he did, but I doubt it at this point in the campaign process.

I saw the picture a few days ago and my immediate thought was it was a disrespect of our flag and national anthem. I don't see that it matters how many of you do the same as him, you aren't running for president, he is, we expect him to respect.

He did, regardless of how many times right-wing Republicans bash him.

Sheesh! Judging by the response, (not only here), you would think Obama was standing on his head singing "na-na-na-na-boo-boo". He was standing there with his hands clasped in front of him for Pete's sake. That is not disrespectful. I don't care if that's not how you, or your neighbor, or anyone else does it. People, c'mon, there are more important things happening in this world....

He wants to be president of these United States. There is a communist movement that wants to do away with a national identity, disipate our borders, and create a one world governemnt. Things such as loyalty to this country and the need to express such loyalty are very important, especially when one wants to be the President. And in light of the current attempts to do away with out national identity.

I saw a toy yesterday a child brought to church... on it, it said....

    UN airforce.....

    What happened to national patriotism....
Sorry, I live in the US.... And am very proud of our US airforce...

Even toy manufacturers are indoctrinating our children with this one world, UN answers all, mentality...

Look at the movie "Happy Feet" besides it being a Global warming propaganda movie, in the end, the UN saves the penguins from evil mankind...

And all this time, I thought we Humans were the ones created in God's image....

Slowly, this country (the US) is being turned over to the UN...

Pretty soon instead of being the "US, one nation under God", we will be "The UN, one nation under seige"

I am afraid that Obama will help further this thinking....
I don't think he will be the "next" president... but when he grows up, he will be then.

And Obama standing with his hands clasped politely in front of him, as MANY other Americans do, is being disloyal to this country and seeking to dispel our national identity? Unbelievable....

If you believe he wants to usher in a pseudo-communist regime go after him based on his political stances and rhetoric, or least go after something more concrete than this. This incessant need to grasp at straws by everyone, left and right, in order to disparage a candidate, any candidate, is pointless and ridiculous.
