Whether or not you wish to debate the topic (You did bring it up, you know.), this is nothing other than one of the bases for the false teachings of "British-Israelism" a.k.a. "Anglo-Israelism". The logic and Scriptural application(s) are extremely faulty, IMO, and can be described as fanciful eisegesis, at best.

One person once put it in this general manner, as to the arguments from language, if my memory is anywhere near accurate as to the exact quote, after some 35+ years.

"Hebrew and English have about as much in common as Chinese and 'Pig Latin'."

    I agree.

I would add that this is just 'one more flavor' of what is styled as "replacement theology" as well.

I would agree that there are those who do believe in replacement theology (whether or not they have studied about the lost tribes, including some Baptists here on the BB) and there are also those who do not, of which I am one.

    Here is one example: http://www.britam.org/

I no as much as nothing about this topic, but a little personal experience with the people who believe this stuff.

    Two things decided for me:
    1) The Scriptures plainly tell God would destroy those Israelites - not only disperse them. British Israelism deny it.
    2) More weighty for me was their utterly feigned use of the Name of the Lord which we as redeemed believers so love and exalt in to use. They think to name the Name of the Lord is transgression of the Third Commandment while to confess faith in God should bring about freedom and joy in the Name of Almighty God and Lord - yea, MY, Saviour. Their's is like being married to one's wife but never saying her name. There cannot be much love in such a relationship.

So I always wonder why they have these two things in common, and it brought to mind a third: Have I noticed correctly that I've never met a single of them who believe the Divinity of Jesus?
