His influence is envied.

Unfortunately, there is a leftist movement towards rightist hate-radio technique: "Say anything loud enough, often enough and it will be believed". It's not ignorance so much as disreguard for truth and facts. It breaks my heart that the lefties are going in that direction.
His calls are screened, he yells at those who disagree with him and then hangs up and insults them. How do you "debate" some one like that?
They/we should answer him, calmly, with facts. But what's wrong with questioning?

At the very least, "We Have Not"...I do not like how ineffectual we've been, either. [IMG]

Wow, great comments from the mother of an injured Marine.

I do not see how this mother's statement
Shows any confusion between Iraq and Afghanistan. Her son joined the Marines on September 12th. Later, as a Marine he got orders to go to Iraq and was eager to go. I do not see her connecting the two. When I was in the Service I got to go to Iraq (1990) and was glad to go. When you work hard and train hard to go to war there is a great desire to actually do those things you have trained for.

In reference to this mother’s Marine son Daisy said
That shows how the left has missed the entire point of going into Iraq. It is not to avenge 9/11; it is to prevent the next 9/11. I know the 9/11 terrorists were Saudi’s out of Afghanistan, so does everyone else. Iraq may not have been directly responsible for 9/11 that does not matter, they were a threat for future attacks, and now they are not.

I haven't followed this from the beginning, but by "flip-flop" you mean she changed her opinion of Bush? Sometimes it takes time for the realization that you've been had to sink in.

I've heard her speak. She seems to be speaking from her own conviction, clearly and strongly. She has allied herself with the left.

Yes, I know many do, but their sincere belief doesn't make it true.

Daisy, the documents discovered in Baghdad (New York without a subway) show the connection between Iraq and al-qaeda, if there was any doubt before.

Debbie (on the radio) never connected terrorism or terrorists and Iraq.

That's Daisy and her very own red herring.

Debbie simply said her son joined after 911 and he got orders to go to Iraq and was impatient to get there.

"When he was 18 years, one month, and ten days old on September 12th he announced that he was joining the Marines after he saw the Twin Towers fall. When his first orders to Iraq were canceled he told us that, "Bush better not pull out before I get there."

Afghanistan was not mentioned by Debbie, only the Twin Towers and Iraq. She seemed to be saying he wanted to go to Iraq because he saw the Twin Towers fall. This was her narrative, she told it in her own fashion.

Ok, but I do. We interpret the same sentences differently.

You join for one war, but get sent to another, but it's all the same because you were trained for war and war is war?

That shows how the left has missed the entire point of going into Iraq.</font>
I agree with you there. I do not see the point of going to Iraq, but I have seen the justification shift from WMDs and a mushroom cloud 45 mins away (rhetorically linked to terrorists and 9/11), to Saddam gassed his own people 20 years ago, to freedom and democracy for the Iraqi people.

Not everyone - read the other posts here.

Just the opposite.

Of course you do . You have to put words in her mouth otherwise what she is saying doesn't fit your agenda.

Ok.
According to that, Abdul Rahman Yasin is an American citizen, born in Bloomington, Indiana! Is Indiana linked to al Qaeda?

According to that link, he was put in prison in Iraq in 1994 and the FBI did not put him on their Most Wanted list until 2002.

Yasin says in this interview that he first met his fellow bombers in New Jersey. Is New Jersey linked to al Qaeda?

He goes on to say that he got his terrorist training in Pakistan before coming back to the United States.

So, this American citizen plotted the attack in New Jersey, trained in Pakistan, then fled to Iraq where he was arrested and jailed. Eight years later, the FBI looks for him. And this is evidence that Iraq supports al Qeada!

This is stronger than the last, because it says:
So, was Yashin jailed as the 2002 CBS reports states (he was interviewed in an Iraqi "institution") or was he provided money and housing as USA Today states?

The article goes on to say:
As evidence goes, this is extremely weak, tentative and inconclusive.

Oh, that's Laurie Mylroie. Sorry, I've read too much of her stuff to find her a credible source. I'm not going to pick over this whole thing.

I have, and the evidence points to stronger ties to America and Pakistan than to Iraq.

According to one of your sources, he was jailed in Iraq and according to another, which considered the evidence tenuous and inconclusive, he may have been given housing (before he was jailed or is the jailcell considered "housing"?

Question: How come 60 Minutes was able to interview him in May 2002, but the FBI couldn't find him?

That is inaccurate, carpro; if you are determined to attack me, get it right. I did not "put words in her mouth", I said that "she seems to be saying...".

What do you think "seems" means?

Daisy,

Well now that you've read one piece of the puzzle do you at least admit that as you read more you might be persuaded that Iraq and Al Qaeda were cozy?

</font>
Deadly accurate. What else can I say? You didn't like what she said so you invented your own angle.

 I' don't know. Maybe you just can't help it. Maybe that's just the way your mind works.

Thanks Ken! This is the kind of mother we should be hearing of as compared to Sheehan!

One question though. Shouldn't Bush go out and meet with Sheehan though? That would diffuse this thing right away and people will be more behind the war.

I personally think that Bush needs to take the fight to other Arab countries. I'm disappointed he's not doing that. In particular, the Iraqis had nothing to do with the 911 attacks even though we are better off without Saddam. But what about the Saudis? And the Iranians? And the Syrians? And the Palestinians?

He's not living up to his promises of "you're with us or against us". Really disappointing.

Rush Limbaugh I guess when he is high on drugs
is good entertainment..but he sure is not a
journalist and that is of his own account.

The guy needs help ..you cannot take 1000's of
opiates and not have an effect...plain and simple.

So people are fans of an entertainer high on
drugs and has a damaged mind. imho

What will they swallow next!?

Matt Drudge has family values.

Now he is calling native Americans..."Injuns"

He saw the attacks on 9.11 as a threat to national security. He wanted to protect this ountry and is doing so. She is not saying that he went because of some link between 9.11 and Iraq. He saw a link between evil people and evil countries. They (anti-war) claim numbers of soldiers killed (this is obviously a sad thing) as a reason not to be there, but by this standard no war should be fought. In an interview on Hardball Cindy Sheehan said that she was also against the war in Afghanistan, so it becomes clear that no war is worth fighting to Her. We talk about our military and how we are all just trying to protect them. Why don't we listen to them? THEY VOTED FOR BUSH!!! 57% of the servicemen and women. Obviously they see something worth fighting for and are doing so with pride. I guess we all know what's better for the soldiers then the soldiers themselves. This doesn't surprise me because the Libs always know what's better for us, then we do. Anyway I would love to see Bush go after more countries, but the liberals would fight him on that also. Evidently we should not bother ridding bad people out of bad places. It would be easier if we just sent in the U.N. I’m sure they can handle it.

Yes, that is exactly how it works. You join the military and they you fight whatever wars the elected civilian leadership (representing the people) of this country see fit. You don't get to pick your own wars. The soldiers don't get to pick the people of the United States (by electing the president and others) do.

I'd been reading about the puzzle well before 9/11 and after. I am convinced that al Qaeda was opposed to Saddam Hussein and were loosely allied with the insurrectionist Kurds.

It's not that Saddam was opposed to terror, he did support Hammas, but al Qeada, even though it is composed of groups loosely aligned, were aligned with the Taliban and wanted Shari'ia which he adamantly opposed. He wasnted power for himself and his sons and the Mullahs were a huge threat to him.

What Bush did (and by "Bush" I mean his administration as well as his official self) was to conflate the war against the terrorists who attacked us with war against all terrorists, then narrow it back down to the terrorists in Iraq (who posed no threat to us).

So Daisy, these folks who are blowing themselves up in Iraq are just _________???????

And where do you get the information that supports your belief that there was no connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda?

I'd really like to see the data.
