A mission you can support

Friends, the following letter is from a very dear friend of mine that is going on a 6 month mission trip to Bolivia this Summer.. Her name is Melinda Hill. She is totally sold out for God!.. I mean it.. I have NEVER met anyone with a heart for missions like Melinda has. I fully and completely endorse her, and there is not too many people I can say that about. PLEASE Take the time to read this letter.. and if you can, support her. She is leaving for Bolivia on Feb. 16th. If you have any questions, you can ask me.

OK, here is the letter..

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Bible says, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” God has called me to step out in faith and go to Bolivia for six months as a volunteer missionary. Many things remain to be done as I plan to leave on February 16, 2010.

Did you know that two-thirds of Bolivia’s people live in poverty? Many Bolivian children go to bed hungry each night. Fully 51% of children age 6 months to five years is malnourished. One in five adult Bolivians is illiterate. The Lord is calling me to help.

While I am in Bolivia I will be working alongside International Ministries missionaries Mario and Iris Morales. I have been issued a formal invitation from the Bolivian Baptist Theological Seminary director, Pastor Damian Castro, to teach Introduction to English for the first semester of 2010. I will be staying at the House of Hope, and have been invited to teach English at a local church there. I will also be helping Carmen with some of the House of Hope ministries. In addition to this, I will help with mission groups that come to minister alongside Bolivian Baptists. I am really excited to see what God will teach me and to see how God will use me! My main goals are to serve Him, to serve the people of Bolivia, and to explore the possibility that God might be calling me to full time missionary service.

There are several ways that you and your church can participate in my ministry. Above all things, I would really appreciate your prayers for me during this time of service. Nothing is as powerful as prayer. Please pray for me.

Another way to be part of this grand adventure is to support me financially, too. As a volunteer, I must provide my own support. The total cost of the six months’ service will be approximately $7,500. At this point, I lack around $2500. You, your church, or your Sunday School class, for example, can make a tremendous difference. Whatever you feel led to give will be gratefully received.
