I know this probably isn't appropriate to this forum, but I will anyway. I am unsure of how much longer I can participate on the Board (maybe a long while). Most/all of you know that I have several health problems all interrelated to lupus and diabetes. One of the reasons we left from Arlington, VA to moved back to the hills was that I was going blind. After we got back down here, the sight improved somewhat, but of late it has taken a nasty turn for the worse. It is glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. I can read somethings and can maneuver about OK at present, but the computer is becoming very difficult to use. I am to the point that I have to get about 6 inches from the monitor to read the Baptist Board. Other places are easier. So, if you don't see me, don't feel I am ditching out on you. I am now switching between 3 pairs of glasses depending on what I am doing, but it is getting more and more difficult to do.

I appreciate the friendships I have made on this forum, and don't expect to be gone completely just yet. I just didn't want to get to the point where I couldn't do it, without saying I appreciate the regulars on the history forum.

Jeff.

Bro. Jeff,

I have been diagnosed with glaucoma as a result of a traumatic accident involving my eyes. Though mine is not the problem you have described yet, I appreciate your dilemma. I want to say I have enjoyed reading your posts and have learned a great deal from you. You are and will remain in my and my family's prayers. May God richly bless you.

Jeff, you have been a great asset to the board, one of the true great voices here. You know my feelings, so I will say no more.

God bless you and my prayers are with you.

Jeff --

I am so sorry about all you are going through. You
would be missed, should you go. I am sure you

Jeff, my dear brother, through our personal correspondence and in here, you know my feelings about you and yours. You also know that we share afflictions, except mine is macular degeneration whilst yours is glaucoma. The end result is the same and the disease the same,,this cursed diabetes. Would that the cure was fast coming.

Cheers, as always my brother. Prayers always.

Jim..

PS. I have a magnifying sheet over my huge screen which helps a great deal. The magnifying sheets can be had at most book shops or confectionary shops.

Hi folks

Clint came to the rescue, walked me through getting the magnifing feature on windows working. I didn't know there was such a thing. I can read the board again.

Thanks to all for the concern, and thanks to Clint for giving me a call, and getting things so I can read. I don't know what I would do without reading.

It is awkward though, will take a bit to get used to it.

Three Cheers for Clint.

Yeah. Yeah, Yeah.

Jim, have you got a specific product for your magnifier. That might be something I can investigate that isn't as awkward. But this is good for now.

Jeff.

Jeff,

I'm really glad that you've found something that works. I would hate to lose your voice here.

HI Jeff and Jim1999, I was told at my last eye exam that I have tiny collections of drusen which signals the early stages of Macular Degeration. I also have a small cataract. Both are in one eye. The doctor was able to correct my vision to 20/40 and I'm taking my anti-oxidants and eating lots of the right things to try and stop this right now.

I don't have any other health issues. No diabetes... just to clarify. Just getting old I guess.

I will remember both of you in my prayers. And Jeff, I really would miss you .... so I'll pray that you will be with us for a long, long time.

God bless,
Diane

Jeff, it is the same magnifying sheet used to magnify pages in a book. The Engineering department at Queen's made a frame and joined two sheets to fit the frame which sits on front of my 19 inch flat monitor. It works great for me. I too tried the enlarging feature and it made it too awkward adjusting each page to read it,,the nadded scrolling and page shifting......

Cheers, mate,

Jim

The big thing with diabetes is even when you are doing the right things it goes wacky from time to time and has its own mind......that's why I had several strokes

Jeff, I was just playing with the magnifyer and found that I could enlarge it by putting the cursor on the bottom edge of the field and, when I saw the little double arrow, clicking and dragging the window wider open. You may be able to play with the resolution settings and get the thing to work even better with a minimal amount of scrolling.

If anyone else who wants to see what we're talking about, if you have Windows 98SE, go to

Windows Explorer > C: > Windows > System > Magnify

and double click the icon.

Jeff, I am certainly glad that Clint was able to help with the Windows magnifying feature (I didn't know there was one). Your posts are highly valued by me and many other members of the Baptist Board, not to mention the value of your work on your own web site. Anything that helps us continue to have the value of your insight here on the Baptist Board is a good thing. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." May the Lord bless you is my prayer.

Brother Jeff you are always in my prayers... And I hope everything works out okay for you... You add so much to this forum as do so many other brethren on here... There is a cohesive tie among many of us here and gosh and golly we all do seem to get along... Even coming from different backgrounds and different churches we seem to click for some reason... Maybe because on this forum we are not twisting arms and let the facts speak for themselves. Enjoy everyone on here and if you are new you will get to love us to. That being said I will shutup... Hope you are back to tiptop shape soon!... Your Primitive Baptist buddy... Brother Glen [IMG]

Brother Jeff,

I was so shocked when I started reading this thread, but then delighted to see that we weren't going to loose you right away.

Are you taking any herbs or doing any eyes washes? There should be something you could to do to help the situation or maybe even reverse it, if it hasn't gotten too far.

Take care, God be with you! [IMG]

I don`t know if this will help you brother Jeff, but on another thread,I learned that if you press the control button and hold it down, while rolling the wheel on your mouse, it increases the font size onscreen......I am reading in large print now.Worth a try.

Gwyneth,,is that with one of the newer mouse controls with a scroll wheel rather than the two or three buttons?

It doesn't work on my old mouse.

Cheers,

Jim
