A prayer for my Sister, Macy

My Sister's father, Cliff Travis, just passed away this morning due to complications of Huntington's disease. She is 11-years-old and is currently in Dallas, TX with his mother. She flew out to Dallas from here (Louisiana) yesterday to take part in a camp, Sky Ranch. I do not believe that she will participate in it this year and I'm expecting her arrival back here in Louisiana anytime. Please remember her during this difficult time along with his family. I'm glad she got to know him. He was a great Dad.

 

Thanks, friends. I talked to her on the phone yesterday. She was emotional and was just trying to figure out what she was going to do. We still do not know if she will come back home or go to Arkansas for the funeral. I am sure that side of the family will shed some insight on what is going to happen.

I asked her how everyone was doing there, and she said that they were really handling it well. I am sure that the prayers were felt. His sister also has the same disease, just not as progressed -- if you can remember her also.

While I have it up here, I would like to address a very touchy topic even for me to write about. The offspring of someone diagnosed with Huntington's disease has a 50% chance of inheriting it -- and a 50% chance of not. If Macy does, she can pass it on to children. If she does not, she can not pass it on. She can not be tested until a certain age. This is a very heavy burden for me to carry, especially knowing that there is as of now, no cure. Please pray for a positive outcome on her behalf, also. I would greatly appreciate it.
