You introduced something as radical as the niv in THE forum for attacking the KJB and anyone who stands upon it.

That 'shot' was definitely uncalled for, especially directed at the one individual who, more than any other, posts on the forum with quotes from the 1611 AV, not the 1769 version or some other flavor.

Botfield never said one negative thing about the KJV, and certainly did not attack it.

In fact, another introduced any 'controversy' regarding the KJV on this thread! (Post #7 )

Why not? I would...it would be the first table in the world to be supported by scripture.

Haven't you noticed how they use the same language when they go to the grocery store and when they talk with their friends?

What Bible is being referenced in Lifeway curriculum currently? Is it still NIV? or are the moving to the Holman?

When I first started writing for the old Baptist Sunday School Board, we used KJV exclusively. Sometime around the time that BSSB became Lifeway, we made a huge push for the NIV in the Life and Works part of the literature. Part of the literature still used KJV. At that time, I saw a big push in the churches I worked with to move to the NIV which became "the" version in many churches.

It has been the HCSB (Christian Standard Bible
/Holman, 2003/ ) since mid 2002. The New Testament was
released in late 2002, the the Old Testament in late 2003
(I didn't get my bought-pre-release whole Bible until
    Mar 2004.)

When the proto-Lifeway switched to the NIV,
I started using the NIV as my Primary Bible for
personal and public devotions, Sunday School Teaching.
I used the KJVs exclusively the first 26 years I was a Christian.
What I've memorized came from the KJV1769 Editions.
So when I use a concordance it will be for the KJV
(I remember more of it's wording).

    Thanks Ed.

One of the disadvantages of being in the Media Center on Sunday mornings instead of Sunday School. I've lost touch with the curriculum! Sad for one who wrote it for so many years . . .

I still wonder if part of the NIV popularity was in part because of the push by Lifeway. I wonder how much influence they had getting the NIV into the hands of the average church goer.

Dr Strouse answered DA Carson concerning Carson's book. (See Critique Of D.A. Carson's 'KJB Debate')

Dr. Mark Strauss on the other hand is a friend of D.A. Carson's and they have worked together with the same mind-set in support of the TNIV . Strauss really picked Grudem apart in debate on the subject a couple years ago .
