Oh brother... now even Google ads are being held against us. What's next?

Yep, the administration is more interested in paying the bills than in excercising discernment in the material they endorse.

I don't think so, Aaron. The ads are random aren't they? The banner above as I'm typing this is for the HomeSchool Insider Newsletter.

I can't wait to find out who the next pope is, but I'm afraid to click on the link. My computer might catch the JVI virus.

Whatever people want to buy, there's always someone willing to sell it.

BTW I didn't intend this as an attack on BB's advertising per se. I know how google ads work. I tried a commercial web site for a while and so many unwanted ads appeared that I couldn't keep up with them. I eventually shut it down - it wasn't making enough money to pay expenses anyway.

google ads read your tracking cookies, and if you have been on sites that are unholy, the ads will present that...

BB is not responsible for the ads your cookies tell Google to post.

If you don't like the ads you see, erase all tracking cookies, and don't visit unholy sites.

I have never seen an off color add on BB...

But I have seen ads about WV, and/or sites that are related to sites I do visit...

Donate some to BB, and help them to not rely on ads.

"Unwanted" doesn't mean "unholy". Right off the bat I was getting ads for those "Christian" dating services. And ads like the one I've highlighted with wacko prophets selling a book.

Wait a minute, I see what you're saying now. At first I thought you were talking about the ads on my own site, but you're talking about the ads on the BB site. That sounds strange to me because on my own site I designated the kinds of ads that would appear on my site. It had nothing to do with the visitor to the site. The problem was that if I got ads within that category that I didn't like, the only way to filter them was to block that specific advertiser. Filtering out all the unwanted ads that came with the category of "religion" became unmanageable.

And how does an ad for a whacko prophet's book tie me to "unholy" web sites? Is there an insinuation in there? That's not like you, Tiny.

No, I am not insinuating anything...
I have just noticed that google ads are targeted to people's past click history...

The fact is you seem to be getting "christian" ads....
Even the wacky ones, google have decided they relate to Christian...

I have a myspace... and no matter where I am, or on which one of my friends space I am on, the google ads always advertise "Christian" items...

I had a friend a couple months ago, ask me why it is that they go to my myspace, they always get suggestive ads...
He brought his computer over, and sure enough, the google ads were totally different than the google ads that were showing on mine...

His were racy themes.. mine were Christian themed...
His parents has caught him on some porn sites, so my guess is google has added a tracking cookie, and when he goes to a site that has google ads, the ads are specifically tied to him...

I am not saying this is the case everytime...
But this is just what was happening to him.

Thanks for the tip  Never had a problem on the BB or really anywhere until the last day or so. I clicked a joke website link sent to me in an email. There were dirty jokes on that website site also. Normally I am very careful.

Cleared my cookies and the add hasn't popped up again.

Well, now that I think about it, a "whacko prophet" IS unholy!

Yes, and when it logs off it quotes two hundred bible verses which prophecies the end.
