Yes I've seen it before and it disgusts me to no end that chrisitans would vote for him, giving approval to it.

I think Obama has a valid point. Who decides how to apply Bible principles in government? Are we going to employ the whole OT Law as the law of the land?

The voice over said something like, 'I can assure you senator that Jesus would not turn the other cheek to terrorists...' How can that assurance be made?

I don't think he is mocking the Bible, but those who try to use it as a political weapon.

How can we confirm it was a Bible principles in government denotation? The same could be viewed as a personal reflection on how Obama feels about the Bible.

It's a free country and people will vote as they will; I'm merely adding my 2 cents here. Thanks for your thoughts on this, Roger. :wavey:

What is your take on Obama's statements such as: "We are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of ... " ? His stance on this has not changed since the onset of his campaign.

Of course, we could say that all of this is just a play on words. But ... is it??????

I don't approve of ANYONE making fun of God's Holy Word.

To me there is no point valid enough to justify this mockery.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
    Gal 6:7

    AMEN Sue:applause:
There is not a reason or purpose good enough to mock the bible. Anyone who beleives in the bible will not mock it.

Because he stopped the killing of the adulteress. He didn't give her the opportunity to turn the other cheek. He didn't tell the earless Roman Soldier to turn the other cheek. I see the turn the other cheek as an act of defiance, not submission. Remember he's talking to the Jews, under Roman law, MHO.

That being said, McCain is not known to be very friendly to Christians....

Obama does not appear to be a Christian.

His mockery of scripture just reinforces that appearance.

Sorry, don't see one iota of mockery here - none.

He makes a valid point. Do we want the OT Law as the law of our land? That was him point.

BTW - he did not tell the Roman soldier to fight back, and he did tell Peter to put his sword away.

I couldn't pull the video up.

Was he implying that someone (McCain) would make us live under the Old Testament laws?

Did someone else declare they wanted Old Testament laws to govern our land?

I haven't heard ANYone mention THAT...so where is Obama coming from???

Or is he just throwing around another red herring?

I would not want to be Obama because God will NOT be mocked. You'll have to argue with God on that one because He's the One who wrote it!

God is not being mocked - and I am not sure it is fair to make such a judgment without seeing the video.

I will keep trying to pull the video up. All I get is a blank page.

BUT, who said anything about living like that? Who was Obama talking about?

Hard to describe without the video. Obama is addressing the idea that we should be governed according to the Bible.

His thought is which parts are we going to use - he then uses a couple of examples from the OT law which no one would advocate for today (don't remember his examples) and ask if we should govern by 'turn the other cheek.'

I think his questions were fair.

    Thanks, Roger.

If he knows anything about the Bible or Christianity, in general, he should know that we do not live by the Old Testament laws, but by the New Testament. I think he just made himself look spiritually uneducated.

I have read only up to here on this thread, and maybe some have already voiced my views, but I am here now, and cant pass this up.

The whole Bible does apply to us. If we pick and choose what we accept and what we reject, then how can we admit that we believe any of it?

I am very dissappointed that some christians would even consider compromise as a solution.

So, you would favour stoning children who do not respect their parents as US law?

His questions show his ignorance of the Christian walk. Christians have no business leading dual lives ie a Christian life and a secular life. Christians are to always apply biblical principles in every facet of life. What scripture should Christians apply to politics? Everything in scripture that applies.

He is not talking about Christians - he is taking about the governance of all citizens. Is all Biblical law applicable to the US today? That was Obama's question.
