I agree with you that this is what he was doing.

There are Christians who advocate this -- Reconstructionists they are called. Gary North is one, also R. J. Rushdoony, David Barton, Gary DeMar, and others.

The Dominionists or Kingdom Now advocates also believe in this. It could be that reconstructionism is a form of Dominionism - I'm not sure.

It seems they have influenced the homeschooling movement.

Postmillenialists tend to swing this way in varying degrees since their world view is that the world is progressing for the better and will continue to do so until the Lord returns. Dominionsits or Kingdom now advocates are all postmillenialists.

Thanks for the link. I was not familiar with them, but I think we can assume they are pretty much on the fringe. At any rate, they are not about to take over the US government.:wavey:

Back on topic, here's the first minute or so of the video since some weren't able to pull it up ...

    Commentator:
"On June 28, 2006, Senator Barack Obama gave a speech to the Call to Renewal conference where he explains why he finds it so difficult for America to use the Bible to help guide our public policy."

    Barack Obama:
“Which passages of scripture should guide our public policies? Should we go with Leviticus which suggests slavery is okay? Or we could go with Deuteronomy which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith. Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount, a passage that is so radical, that it’s doubtful that our own defense department would survive its application. Folks haven’t been reading their Bible …”

The commentator speaks from that point. The video clip is 2.09 minutes long ...

It is a conference organized by theological liberals, quasi-evangelicals, semi-evangelicals, and heretics.

I'd like to ask what a "peacemaker" is.

But O/T, Abraham Lincoln used to mock preachers, when he was a lawyer, in taverns & such......they told him it would be a really bad idea to do it as president. I forget where I read that, but it seemed pretty credible.

I think politicians in general, and democrats in particular, step in it big time, every time they bring up the bible, or us. (Nancy Pelosi sure misrepresented the RCC's stance on conception) They ALWAYS come off as condescending,& woefully uninformed. This guy may be working to ban the O/T, and that certainly wouldn't be unprecedented for a lefty like him.

And if a republican even thought of quoting the bible at a rally, and suggesting we run our D.O.D. on the principles of the sermon, the libbies would be screaming at the top voices..."Church & State !!!! Church & State!!!!!!"

The light is a-shinin' on the zero. Must be hot in that sheep's clothing......

So Jesus Christ is radical??? It was Jesus who gave the Sermon on the Mount.

Obama is right about one thing. Folks haven't been reading their Bible and I'm referring to HIM!

He is even wanting to throw out the New Testament. If he gets elected, he will be throwing the whole Bible away!

Who cares? I'm looking for a competent President not a Pastor.

Jesus' radicalism is not like the socialist, baby-murdering, all-that-is-decent-hating, tolerant-of-evil kind of radicalism.

Here are some examples of His type of radicalism.

    1. You must go through Him to get eternal life (Acts 4:12, John 14:6)

    2. You must have a righteousness that exceeds the scribes and pharisees, (Mat 5:17-20)

    3. You must hate the world system (1 John 2:15-16)

    4. Though you must obey God first, you owe your employer the same allegiance and hard work that you owe Christ, and employers owe the same to their workers. (Eph 6:5-9)

    5. If you would obey His Word, you should see homosexuality and other sexual sin as equivalent to murdering your parents (1 Tim 1:9-10)

    6. If you won't work, you should not eat. 2 Thes 3:6-12

We could go on, but the picture would only get clearer--radical, yes. Socialist, liberal, baby-killing, morality hating? Not in a million years.
