In the KJVO/TV thread that is now closed, I made the comment that BB can be addictive. What do you think.

Salamander made the comment that I must be...
Well folks look at my profile:
Here is what is posted there...

Wow 2.82 posts a day... That must be a pretty big addiction!

Total Posts: 3,393 (2.82 posts per day) Find all posts by tinytimFind all threads started by tinytim

Seriously, what would be some signs of being addicted to BB?

One sign is looking forward to reading the comments every day, especially when you are going back and forth with someone. It really gets fun when both are on the board at the same time.

Though I do not believe that I am, if addiction is based on posts per day, I am three times more than whatever Tiny is (I imagine it will slow down once the newness wears off and I get sick of ya'll ;)). I would desire to know what is bad about sharpening iron amongst brothers and sisters in Christ, what would be the acceptable daily posts per day to not be considered addicted and how we would evaluate each individual circumstance. If someone is retired and posts x number of days are they more or less addicted then someone who is working at a rock quarry and posts x-y per day?

I think if a person is neglecting his or her daily duties to be on BB it is wrong.
But I look forward to being on BB.
    And no duties are neglected.

BTW, Pray for a family in our church, I just got back from their home. The lady's mother, 82 yrs old, passed away today. I will be preaching the funeral probably Saturday.

ooops there was my 2 posts for today... I bet I go over the limit today.

You're above average. Besides, I know you post in other boards as well, I think TinyTim is just another consumed with arguing the Bible.

Addiction isn't necessarilly expressed by number of posts per day, but I'm sure that many read alot more than they post.

webdog said," I think you paint with too broad a brush by insinuating everyone who posts a lot or often are "addicted" to the BB."

I never made that statement. Obviously you, too, are addicted/obsessed.

I think you are directing this at Rufus, right...
I can't imagine you calling me above average :love2:

I am consumed with love for the Lord, and reaching others, and fighting false doctrines. I think you like to argue too. (BTW, Baptists do not call it arguing, it is Debating) And it is through debating that we sharpen our beliefs. I have learned a lot by debating... even switched sides on an issue. I used to be KJVO!

Once we had a HUMOR FORUM thread called:

You know you are addicted to the BB if

I'll see if I can find it ...

    You said...

"There are those addicted to BB, but that is easily seen by the many posts and how often they frequent the "bar"."

Yep, you did insinutate that. I'm glad you know me so well to know my addictions.

A post can consist of 3 words or 3 pages. Number of posts mean squat, and does not "obviously" mean one is "addicted" to the Bb. In the games forum, a post can consist of a single 5 letter word.

I don't know if its addicted or just like spending your free time discussing scripture. It would not have to be BB, but I know most members now and enjoy discussions with them, even though they get mad at me from time to time for my being to rigid in my beliefs.(stubborn)

I could quit BB, if I had to, without much fanfare, but there are no other groups I like as well, and discuss the subjects I like. Shoot, I cross minds probably more than most, but that don't mean I don't respect the other poster.

Addicted? That suggests one could not quit BB, and I could do that ,if I thought it wasn't the place for me.

I am here a lot and do post quite a bit. The reason for the posts is who is on the other end that causes do many. They won't give in and neither will I.

    YOU STUBBORN BOB?
    I bet I'm more stubborn!

This is what a person looks like, when they have to do without BB:

    Re: BB Adiction

I've taken the 12 steps to curing my BB adictions
(with thanks to AA who helped me with my BB)

#1 we admitted we were powerless over the BB — that our lives had become unmanageable.
#2 Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
#3 Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
#4 Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
#5 Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
#6 Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
#7 Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
#8 Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
#9 Made direct amends to such people wherever possible,
except when to do so would injure them or others.
#10 Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
#11 Sought through prayer and meditation to improve
our conscious contact with God as we understood Him,
praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
#12 Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps,
we tried to carry this message to bb-oholics,
and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

    Throughout BB = Baptist Board,
    bb = bullet

    2 Peter 1:10 (KJV1611 Edition):
Wherefore, the rather, brethren, giue diligence to make
    your calling and election sure:
for if ye doe these things, ye shall neuer fall.

I am sure now my calling is to minister to ministers on the BB
    especially the Versions/translations Forum (V/T F).

For me it is 'continuing education'. I have learned quite a bit here- even some things about myself.

I don't watch TV nor listen to the radio. I read for pleasure, books and things I find on the internet. I enjoy the fellowship here even with people I disagree with.

Many of you might think I have an addiction to the bb because I can't quit posting here. I'm not addicted .... I can quit. I just don't feel I need to quit.
