If he does this, it will be political suicide.

It's another effort to destroy the private insurance industry to aid in his promotion of a much larger tax increase to fund universal healthcare.

Obama is extremely dangerous to America and our freedom of choice.

He is a government control freak beyond any socialist we have ever seen in a position of such power.

Exactly! Those who have secured good private medical insurance will be heavily taxed to kill yet another form of self-reliance and usher in more dependency upon the government.

You're right, this is one of the worst ideas the republican's ever came up with. Oh, you guys do recall this was McCain's proposal during the campaigns, right? And Obama is not saying he is all for it, he is saying he is open to the republican's suggestion if it means funding his goal of universal health care... After all, they shot down taxing the rich so we have to get the money somewhere or they call it generational theft...

    From the original quote...

It doesn't matter if it was a liberal Republican or a liberal Democrat idea. It's still a bad idea and that's the point!

Well, your half right. You seem to be forgetting the offsetting deduction against income that would have resulted in a net tax increase of zero that was also part of McCain's proposal.

I completely agree, I was just pointing out this isn't Obama idea...

This idea (targus) in whatever form it is being proposed is coming from the right but I agree it would be a bad idea even if the girl scouts proposed it.

That's it, conveniently disown your leaders. If he is not a conservative, then your party shouldn't have let him win the primaries and run on your ticket.

Congrats, LeBuick...you took a thread I didn't think it was possible to blame Republicans for, and you did it.

Hats off to you...the DNC would be proud...

The democrats are eager to tax the dead. Is there anything in existence that the democrats are not willing to tax?

You can own McCain , if you like.

    I never have.

That being said, I'll take McCain over a lying socialist like Obama anytime.

He is set on a course to destroy America.

I hope you enjoy the ride. I'll enjoy the fight.

The lives and futures of all my descendents depend on it.

A "Logan's Run" society is where he will yake you.

Just making sure the right folks get the credit for this idea...

It's only being discussed because of Obama pledge to be bi-partisan. Otherwise, we the people voted against this idea at the polls in Nov...

The fact that it's the Republican's idea and it is being discussed.

I didn't agree with everything that McCain wanted to do - trying to comprise true conservative principles to be more middle of the road - but, even so, he'd still be driving way over on the right side compared to Obama and friends. It's Obama's ideas that will wreck our nation and in the short time in office he's well on the way to doing just that.

This idea to tax iinsurance benefits - regardless where it came from or who's picking it up now - is a bad one. It's just another way to redistribute wealth - take for achievers and give to non-achievers under the force of law - and that's something that the Obamanites may prove very effective at doing.
