    Well said. As Tancredo has well stated, our fixed entitlements are killing us. Discretionary spending reform alone will not help much.

    IMVHO (in my VERY humble opinion):
    all Federal Government entitlement programs
    (including those administered by the States)
    should be abolished -- save those to which I am entitled. :saint:

    This sentiment has been posted by me on
    Bulletin Boards (bbs) since 1984.

    These two loose cannons hate America. But they are expressing the desire to destroy the dollar/America. While at present it seems nearly impossible, it would not take too many large (China) countries to create real problems, in the future. Couple that with the middle eastern countries that would welcome our destruction, some very heavy decisions are in line for the next Pres. I wonder if GWB's friendliness toward the Saudi's is part of this.

    I believe America is reduced to insignificance in end times prophecy, and economic ruin could be/probably will be the cause.

    Sunday the average Unleaded (regular) price was $3.029;
    today (Monday) it is $2.969 -- that looks like a drop
    of 6¢ (02%).

    :godisgood:

    Now in central Oklahoma we can get
    more gas per $1
    than s (Euros) per $1 !

    Why do Americans always capitalise euro, but not dollar, pound, or yen? And technically the plural for euro is euro, not euros.

    (Filling in for language cop :) )

    The plural can be euro or euros. I choose the later.

    I have a1 coin.

    Assuming that the coin has no numanistic value,
    I wonder what it is worth today?
    I'll google some stuff and see if I can find out.

    http://www.x-rates.com/d/EUR/table.html

    1 = $1.4787 sometime on 19 Nov 2007

    1 = £0.7160

    ummm, I can't seem to find my One Euro coin?
    It can't be worth much if I can't find.
    "Lay up not treasures on earth ... "
    It used to be right above my One Rouble Coin (1970)??

    Correctomundo.

    Perhaps if those who don't agree knew what is actually backing the US debt since it left the gold standard they might change their minds. The areas in black on the link below are mineral and other reserves apportioned off by the US Gov't to back the debt. After a very lavish decades long spending spree, there is a default on that debt and the end of an empire in the making, it just depends who exactly is coming for the collateral.

    The rest of the article can be read at either of these links, and is already several years old.

    In America we spell capitalise "capitalize", too. ;)

    Fair play - capitalize and capitalise are both correct however. :)

    I am truly curious as to why Euro has become the norm there when we don't use Dollar.

    I will gladly accept all euro coins lying around :). They are worth gold now compared to the dollars my support comes in.

    While his intention might have been wrong, the dollar does feel like a worthless piece of paper atm when you have to buy euro with it.

    In America, we speak the English language properly, even in the south, but not in Massachusetts. :thumbs:

    Mr Madmullah Ahmalooni has, for once, got it right: the euro, for the moment at least, has displaced the dollar as the World's Most Wanted currency. Whether this represents as deeper American malaise on the global scene, the rise of the EU and the eclipse of the USA, is far more difficult to judge.

    I have a few from Ireland. I'm not sure I'll have to look again, but I'm almost 100% positive they are all from Ireland.
