Ziggy -- thanks for those details. I simply did a quick check on Bibleworks. It would be interesting to see where Scrivener found that variation.

After a quick trip to the library, I finally found that the EK SOU reading was printed in Beza 1598.

Why are you guys fussing about this, everybody knows that the following words ARE Greek:

    thou
    art
    ye
hinder (as in backside of the ship)

Face it, the logic is simple: If the originals are in Greek and Hebrew and they are word-for-word perfect, then the KJV must be in Greek and Hebrew. ;)

    What!?

KJV Job 24:22 He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.

NKJ Job 24:22 " But God draws the mighty away with His power; He rises up, but no man is sure of life.

The NKJV translators take the position that the "He" of Job 24:22 is God and the "mighty" are the wicked of the preceding verses!

True the traditional word for "God" does not appear in the Hebrew text of Job 24:22 but then the KJV translators do the same thing with several phrases of "Would to God!" in the OT.

The AV translators inserted the word "God" and is simply not there in the Hebrew text (except in one case) but is an assumption of their part.

Is it OK for the KJV translators to do this but not the NKJV?

It took several hundred years to correct the KJV stating in 1617AD with several hundred significant and substantive corrections to make it align correctly with the TR.

Why not give the NKJV the same allowance.

Write to the translation commitee and let them know your complaints.

BTW when our Baptist forefathers did this and complained to the AV translation commitee, they were persecuted and worst.

When one Baptist pastor objected to the word "bishop" in the AV, King James had his ears cut off and imprisoned him for the rest of his short life in the cold and damp dungeons of His Majesty.

No wonder most of our historical friends used the Geneva Bible instead.
