It should be pointed out again that you have no way of knowing this, since you haven't even seen the movie, yet.

It should also be pointed out that, as of yet, you haven't been able to back up any of your claims regarding the movie.

We're all still waiting for you to demonstrate your bizzare comments about your pastor becoming possessed by "voodoo demons" after seeing the movie.

Spirit, I meant the Word of God not the movie itself will not return void. There is obvious quotes of clear scripture, which btw happen to say...I am the way the truth and the light, no man comes to the Father but through me. (also that scripture being quoted in my opinion tears down the whole "it's a catholic" movie too. That my friend is seed no matter how you try to cut it.

Mike McK: read posts a little more carefully, brother. I didn't say my "pastor" had a voodoo spirit. I said he acted like demonized savages who get hot tempered and say vile things when a Christian says "Jesus" or "house of the Lord" or other holy terms.

I do not wish to belabor the point of this phony Pharisee pretending to be a "pastor." There are so many good pastors who would never dream of saying perverse things in a public restaurant, and I thank God for them.

Modesty and propriety, which that man lacks, disallows me repeating the posts on this unfortunate incident.

I was being a bit comical about an extremely serious matter, but some are up in arms about my saying "possibly some voodoo spirit or a bad demon."

The joke is: are there good demons? I guess my levity, to reduce the anguish of hearing vile words and seeing hot temper from an alleged "pastor", was not appreciated.

Of course, and this was part of the humor I was using, this "pastor" likes to state that demon possession is virtually non-existent here in good old USA, you have to go to Haiti and Africa and India to see missionaries cast out spirits. That's why I said "possibly voodoo spirit"--but no one but my church friends would have caught the inside joke.

This guy didn't have a clue about spiritual warfare or any spiritual topic. Sad to say.

But hey--wife & I visited a fairly good Baptist church today. We remain optimistic, hoping that God has not totally given up on the institutionalized church yet.

BTW, I can comment on films I have not seen: all porno films (I have not seen them) are evil. There, I just commented on a whole bunch of films I have not seen.

I stand corrected diane, sort of, see this was not the first post on the "voodoo spirit" topic. There were I think 3 posts about this. Maybe 4.

Thanks for quoting my post. This concern needs all the attention it can get, for this is a serious issue with which we Christians must be prepared to deal.

"like he got some witchcraft voodoo spell in him, maybe a bad demon (chuckle chuckle--all demons are bad!) or some such thing..." Yeah. I didn't know exactly what kind of thing had invaded his brain.

The voodoo reference was not meant to be wild but was an inside joke concerning how he claimed that demons only possess Haitians, Hindus, and Africans (notice they are all non-white non-Anglo Saxons), and that USA has no demonic possession problems, we're too "technologically advanced" for such stuff.

Guess he never got introduced to a certain Mr. Harold Potter and his ilk, or YuGiOh, Ouji, psychic hotlines, seances, Crossing Over show, etc.

Did you know that Aristide government declared Voodoo to be Haiti's national religion? and that the island was dedicated to Satan years ago?

I support the Haitian missionaries, receive ACTION magazine.

Sorry, that doesn't tear down the "its a catholic movie" idea. I have seen that verse printed in MANY catholic publications. It is often in the local parish newsletter here in out town. It's how you interpret the verse that counts. To them the verse it true, but Christ only works through the church.

Christ4...well for others perhaps it doesn't mean anything, I *did* say in *my* opinion it tears it down and it does.....i don't see this movie as catholic at all, not when scripture is so vivid. Satan quotes the whole bible, so does that mean it should mean nothing?

Where in the Bible does it say Satan quotes the whole Bible?

Name the abundant points in The Passion film that are are faithful presentations of actual Biblical scenes and dialogue...

...with no imaginative or bizarre, Hellywoodish distortions, additions, deletions.

Scripture is "so vivid" in this ridiculous parody of Christ's sufferings? Not scripture, but Mel and Emmerich's demented obsession with pain, violence, brutality, masochism, gore.

Have you read Emmmerich's biography or texts? Do you know she wanted to be Co-Redeemer with Jesus, and begged Him to inflict pain and disease on her so she could "atone" for the sins of her friends?

And she walked around in a robe soaked and dripping with blood? Try doing that in high school or church or at the mall--see what happens.

Brothers and sisters, this is pure blasphemy, and mental illness.

Yet Mel proclaims Emmerich as a big influence and major direct input for his "Jesus" film.

Vaspers, hmm ya know come to think of it, that comment I made about Satan quoting the whole bible could be wrong, I've always grown up hearing this preached but I should find out for myself. Thanks for pointing that out.

If I go through the whole movie and point out areas that were scriptural I'd be here all night. Pilate washing his hands of Jesus and handing him over, Jesus beating, the tools used, having a man carry the cross for Jesus, the crown of thorns, Judas denying Christ first by betraying him for money which he gave back, then verbally saying I don't know him, Judas hanging himself, Jesus being tried, barabbas being freed and the croud chanting crucify him, soldiers nailing him to the cross (although they nailed his hands)the theif on the left of Jesus confessing he was guilty of what he did but Jesus wasn't, Jesus telling him "Today you will be with me in Paradise", the clouds growing dark, the storm, Jesus last words of saying It is accomplished (finished same thing)and him saying "Father why hast thou forsaken me",into my hands I commit my spirit". Showing flashbacks of Jesus ministry when he taught, him saying "I am the way, the truth and the light, no man comes to the Father but through me", Jesus saying to love even your enemies (I paraphrased that one, him saying...greater love have no man than a man lay down his life for his friends.

onestand, you are now my favorite Passion film debate opponent. Johnv has slid to second place, with Brother Adam a close third. Ha!

Thank you for taking the time and effort to attempt to answer my post intelligently and scripturally. Whew. What a relief. That feels mighty good, you know. IOU one! Tell yr hubbie to be extra sweet to you today. I said so!

Hey, about Satan quoting the whole Bible, let me make you feel a little better about that remark:
yes, satan could do that, yet not obey or love any of it.

Actually, satan has 100% correct doctrine as far as theology. He just rejects this knowledge to fight against God, His angels, His Christ, and His people.

Satan was lucifer, the angel of light, in charge of Truth and Light, then the idiot rebelled and revolted against God. He cannot be forgiven and will never repent because the super selfish desire to be God and kick God out of heaven is unpardonable and irreversible.

Thanks again for your polite reply.

    You is cool.

Your profile says you like music. What music? I used to perform and record electronic and industrial noise music. I was a bit backslidden in those days, but that's the past. What Christian music do ya like?
