Last year, after obamacare passed, my mother's cardiologist up and folded in his practice and went to a hospital teaching job in another state. So we searched and found another cardiologist this year to run the usual tests. Saw & met the doctor & got the tests in June and he wanted to see her in 6 months and set up the appointment.

Then the SCOTUS ruling came down on June 28th.

Yesterday, we got a letter saying he left the practice effective July 20th. Two cardiologists gone thanks to obamacare.

I know of at least 6 other physicians who have folded up their practices since obamacare.

Anybody else running into the doctor shortage yet?

I didn't think we were going to have a shortage of doctors. Sad part is that most of the doctors around here have a last name I couldn't spell without first seeing it.........

The looming shortage of doctors isn't about Obamacare.

Granted I know plenty of people on this board want to blame the President for cancer but come on folks...we've known about this shortage for years.

The two primary causes of doctor shortages:
    1. The limited number of seats for medical colleges...schools are not expanding.
    2. The exorbitant cost of medical school...why spend $100k on an education to be a general practitioner that makes maybe $95k a year?

For folks living in rural areas the doctor shortages are going to really begin to have an effect soon. Doctors aren't graduating from medical school and going back to their rural communities.

However you slice it the primary issue isn't the current administration. That is a false claim. Now if you wait 10 years (if ACA survives the next Congress) then you can say this...but not now. It is intellectually dishonest to attempt to say this.
