American Exceptionalism?

    Lately, I have heard this term "American Exceptionalism" being used by conservatives. Does anyone know how conservatives define this term? Is it similar to the idea of "Manifest Destiny"? Does it truly have any basis in fact or is it just another conservative talking point?
