NEW YORK Universal Press Syndicate columnist Ann Coulter "joked" during a Thursday speech that liberal Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens should be poisoned. "We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens' creme brulee," Coulter said at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Ark. "That's just a joke, for you in the media."

As a rock-hard conservative, let me be the first here to condemn this joke as wrong, inappropriate, and insensitive. It also damages the Republican Party.

Ann, Ann -- take a good look at Pat Robertson, Jesse Jackson, Cindy Sheehan, and Harry Belafonte. Clean up your act, or become a laughing stock.

As much as I like her, she shouldn't say things like this. She has too many enemies, waiting to pounce. She needs to be more careful.

I agree. Ann doesn't need to be doing anything childish like that. She is too good at what she does to resort to jokes of that kind.

What Coulter said is not something to joke about. She should be ashamed of herself.

I'm glad I now rarely, rarely read what she writes.

She needs to honest to her true self and not hide
or do we want deception?? so as to enable a wolf
in sheep's clothing...one thing Ann is honest on where she stands and even though I believe she has
a chemical imbalance because of fluctuating weight
this picture speaks myriads of the true Ann one that is on the fringe...so be it..amen.

She has suckered a lot of people and has raked in the money...she is a millionaire at least 10 times over.

Wow. I live in the Little Rock area and this is the first I have heard about it. I would have thought this would have been all over the news. What she said is evil and wrong and she ought to be ashamed of herself. She ought not joke about things like that. Perhaps, she should be investigated and she better pray that Stevens stays healthy, because if anything happens to him, I would think she would be suspect #1.

Ann never should have said this. Joe McCarthy was maligned.

I'm not an Ann Coulter fan. (I'm barely aware of who she is.) But I don't think this is something to get worked up about. It was a stupid and unfunny joke, but I doubt Coulter has any serious desire to see someone poisoned.

Stupid things like this get said all the time. Alec Baldwin said he hoped Alphonse D'amato, (Forgive my spelling) the one-time Republican senator from New York, should've died in the ski accident along with Sonny Bono. Justice Thurgood Marshall referred to Bush 41 as "dead" repeatedly in an interview. When Dan Rather reminded him that he was not dead, Marshall replied he was speaking in wishful tones, not in reality. Yet there was little outcry.

Coulter makes a good living saying stupid stuff, just like Al Franken, Al Sharpton, Limbaugh, etc.

I won't defend Ann. However, Alex Baldwin said that Cheney and his family should be stoned or words to that effect. I believe such remarks in reference to the President and VP is a crime.

It's just Coulter, being Coulter. It's not the first time.

    It won't be the last.

It might be she's really got a screw loose. Or it might be she's just trolling for suckers who like that kind of thing.

    Who cares?

she is a millionaire at least 10 times over

So what? At least she earned it, compared to Massachusetts' two Senators.

And no, I don't like what she said. It was a disgusting thing to say. It's why I don't like to hear her speak, she comes across as a smart aleck teenager.

And OR makes a good point. When was the last time ASLANSPAL criticized such a rotten thing said by a lib?

So, AP, have you ever criticized a lib for making such an outrageous statement, or are you just fine with double standards? Or are you just going to try to change the subject? Or ignore the question again? Any particular lib statements you've been uncomfortable with, or are you going to just give us the "Yeah, sure I have"?

The suckers, obviously, are the ones who take Coulter seriously.

The liberals who let her get under their skin, and the conservatives who like what she says.

Suckers, both. She's either a complete fruitcake, or has figured out that there is money is catering to fruitcakes.

From the right you always start the personal stuff because of this.

and the truth hurts so you attack the messenger
the topic is Ann Coulter ..get it!

Duh! start a topic about a lib making an outrageous statement or anyone ..instead of bellyaching..an outrageous statement is an outrageous statement regardless of idealology.

Ann Coulter has played you and you have been mesmerized by her books and overt unbecoming of
    any proverbs 31 woman.

My goodness look at your people you follow ftr
and be fair ..like I said a picture says a thousand words.
    http://www.mediaresearch.org/stillshots/2003/dishonor/event/Bozell_triovote.jpg

Brent Bozell and his beer gut...Laura dressed like a man...and of course Ann is that a nightgown or is she catereing to the seducing all
the ftr'r in the audience with her overt seduction ...like I said Ann has played alot of
people like ftr ..she's dressed like a [snipped] any baptist board would not allow a woman dressed like that into their church. Only person with some ounce of integrity is Cal Thomas and he looks very uncomfortable.

Did you make an overnight to the trash can ftr.

Edited to change oversize pic to a URL and remove offensice language.

I agree. I don't, however, know many folks on here who actually like what she said at Philander Smith College in Little Rock. I guess that is why I am confused by A-Pal's statement.
