Havensdad, I'm more interested in devotion to the Lord, not Scripture-knowledge.

The teachings that we really need to live the life that God has called us to, do not require seminary or Bible College training.

I've been to both Bible College and Seminary.

From what I understand the work is equivalent to any regionally accredited school. Liberty university will accept credits from them. Several men like Falwell, Caner, and Patterson have spoken there and supports the school. Anyone I have spoken to about the school that has any knowledge of it has nothing but praise for it.

Ok. Maybe some regionally accredited schools. But I'm not too sure about that one.

Even in teaching what I wish to teach in my adult SS class, I am required to do research.

Certainly there is no way I know of that I could carefully evaluate chapters in theses or even a variety of undergraduate papers in a dozen courses without some research.

I have difficulty separating devotion to God from ministry to others and ministry to others from learning.

If some can, that's fine. Good for you.

To be a truly devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a believer doesn't need to know the biblical languages or any such thing.

All the believer needs is a good Bible translation and the indwelling Spirit.

The believer doesn't need a Bible College or Seminary.

This is like saying "You don't need pneumatic tools to be an auto mechanic".

That's true, but the auto mechanic with pneumatic air tools is going to be able to handle more, resolve larger problems, and get things done faster.

For example: I have had gentlemen that I respect very highly, who have been devoted followers of Christ for longer than I have been alive, tell me how much more about the Bible I know than they do (with which I completely disagree, BTW) simply because I solved some nagging problem they had due to a rudimentary knowledge of Greek. "I've read that a thousand times and never realized that before!"

God will reward extra effort. If you put in extra effort, it will be rewarded.

I'm sure that rudimentary problem had nothing to do with the rudimentary teaching of Christ.

The Lord , "Bill, do you love Me"?

Bill, "Lord, you know I love you."

The Lord, "Then feed My sheep."

Bill, " OK. I plan to ; this coming Sunday in class I'm teaching the Olivet Discourse."

The Lord , "Well then, do you understand five views on Mt 24"?

    Bill, "Um... no."

The Lord, "Then learn them! Do you understand the history of the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus?"

    Bill, "Um...no"

The Lord, "Then learn it! Do you understand the verbal similarities with the Thessalonians"?

    Bill, "Um...no."

    The Lord, "Then learn them!"

Bill, "But Lord, I just want to love you!"

The Lord, "Then feed my sheep! And, do it right. What, do you think you're inspired to teach like Peter? "

    Bill, "Um...no."

The Lord, "So, what do you have to do then ??? Huh???"

I find that few really understand the interaction between Jesus and Peter. They try to interpret that interaction in light of their own culture and not in its historical context. Most of the time I find few who know what the two words mean that Jesus and Peter used and the differences between them.

Maybe we need to distinguish between Bible College/Seminary learning from learning that comes from sitting under good teaching.

A failure is obviously seen here.

loving to learn regardless of where

We could make that distinction, but not in my adult SS and midweek classes except in locale. What these good folks put up with from me equals or surpasses that material taught in undergrad or sometimes in grad theological/Biblical study. For example just within the last two-three years we've covered the following and much more:

the supposed eternal relational subordination of the Son
theories on the transmission of sin
the personality and deity of the Spirit
theories on the origin of the soul
    Jesus in Apocryphal literature
    basic hermeneutics
    dichotism vs trichotism
    exegetical issues in Phil 2:6-8
    answering Berkhof's arguments against immersion
the usage of the luton word group in the LXX and NT
Evaluating the claims of those in the Lakewood "revival."
ten errors in Trinitarian and Christological doctrine
A 24 week overview of LDS doctrine
    gender requisites in church offices
    Six views on Spirit baptism
The supposed eternal generation of the Son
    kenotic views on the incarnation
internal and external evidences for the originality of Mark 16:9-20
responding to arguments against the Pauline authorship of Ephesians
    was Junia a woman apostle
    tongues & prophecy
    An overview of 12 cults
monogenes in non Johannine Biblical material
    dispensational vs covenant theology

next up: finish 24 weeks of eschatology, then 24 weeks of RCC doctrine. Lest one thinks there is no praxis, our church is active in discipleship, witness, and worship.

My kind folks eat this stuff up like the most avid student in seminary. I 'm so grateful they do.

    Praise God!

My bad. I went back and noticed that you said "equivalent to regionally accredited schools," not better than.
